Re: Jonas Valanciunas Summer Discussion Thread (Olympics!)
Being British I'm looking forward to seeing how team GB does this summer. It's a long shot but with 4 teams making it out of the 2 groups at the Olympics they have an outside shot to make it to the quarter finals. If they do that that will be considered a huge success.
They've come a long way in a few years as a program and it was always an outside shot they would even be allowed to play at the Olympics due their ranking being so awful when the games were awarded to London five years ago.
I spent a week at a camp run by the head coach (and now Houston Rockets assistant) Chris Finch around 15 years ago now. Really great guy, obviously knows his stuff and paid his dues to be where he is now at. He even spent a good 10 mins talking to my mum about my game and development which he didn't need to do but took the time. I've played against a few members of the squad in some streetball games many years ago so I'm really rooting for them to have a good Olympics despite the long odds.

Do the Blazers still have the rights to Joel Freeland? Didn't know he was selected 30th overall.

Yeah the Blazers want to bring him over. They said the sme things last year but he is still under contract for Málaga.
This was from an article yesterday over here:
"It's up in the air at the moment," admits Freeland, a standout for Great Britain in recent seasons alongside Luol Deng and Pops Mensah-Bonsu. "They were really interested in me all through this last season. They came to see me six times. I went to dinner with them and had meetings. They have been to Malaga numerous occasions over the three years and they're really excited about me coming this year. I'm excited too."
"I think this is my time to make that step if I get the opportunity," he continued. "All the things have to be in the right place though. They're coming over to watch me play on Saturday. I'm talking to their general manager, and will listen to their ideas, what he thinks I should be doing and what he would want from me. At the moment, until I have that meeting, I don't know exactly what will happen.
"But I'm open to offers. as I said all along, my dream is to be there and I think at 25 years old it's probably the perfect age to go if I'm ever to make the jump. I love playing in Malaga, I love being there, had a great time playing there but, at the end of the day, the NBA is where I'd like to be.

Is this the full roster for Lithuania or will there still be cuts?
If they have room I would leave space for Seibutis
Jasikevicius looks like the best guy out there (still)
