MN-DET

Post#1 » by [RCG] » Sun Jun 24, 2012 2:34 am

Would anyone be down for a swap of:

Gordon/Prince/#9 for Miller/Webster/Milicic/Mem '13 1st

Adelman has stated he wants veteran wings to win now. We take on #9 for incentive to do the deal. Detroit clears a lot of salary and adds a future pick. May need to switch Memphis 1st to #18.

Rubio/Ridnour/Barea
#9/Gordon/Ellington/Lee
Prince/Johnson
Love/Williams
Pekovic/?

I would due that trade in a second. It will eat up our cap but I highly doubt we can land someone like Eric Gordon anyways as a free agent.Prince is still a solid starting SF,not what he once was but a hell of alot better then what the Wolves had to deal with at that position for years. While Gordon would be a clear upgrade at SG,but ideally he would becoming off the bench as our sixth man sense Beasley is most likely gone.

I really like this deal. It immediately turns us into a playoff team and dramatically improves our wings. I understand that Gordon is a one dimensional player but he shot 43% from beyond the arc. Still a very effective 6th man type player who's been under-appreciated the last few years because of his team and contract. Tayshaun Prince is also a nice role player who would fit in nicely, even at this stage in his career. Then we can grab our SG of the future at #9 (Jeremy Lamb?) and sign a veteran defender who can backup the 4 & 5 and we have ourselves a very solid team going in to next year.

I'd do it for Memphis pick or #18.

It's not the ideal offseason, but might be the most realistic.

I would love this deal. Don't even need the #9 for me to say yes. I believe BG would be great here and Prince is solid

Detroit wouldn't add the #9, but I would probably do it anyway too.

Lamb will come higher

I don't know about this. If you're getting the 9 to draft a wing, what role does Gordon have?

i would def do this deal even if the 9th pick is not included. I see gordon being that super six man who gets like 30 mins per game. even if the wolves draft a wing with that pick ( rivers, lamb) i could see them doing what raps did to derozan his rookie year. basically starting him each and every game with limited mins or increased mins if he played well.

I think Jeremy Lamb could easily be available at #9, Gordon would maintain his 6th man role, playing more minutes than the starter while the rookie develops.

We'd have to clean up our glut of guards. We could also take Fab Melo at #18 instead.
I think Wes could learn a lot from Prince.

I think he knows. He just means that our cap space isn't worth preserving, because we can't use it on a bigger name like Eric Gordon and might as well spend it on a player like Ben Gordon.

Would definitely do the trade, but doing it without the #9 would be crazy.

I don't think the trade will fly by itself.

http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q79

Teams under the salary cap may make trades as they please, as long as they don't finish more than $100,000 above the salary cap following any trade.

12/13 salary after the proposed trade: 61,098,752

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/story/19404604/given-new-rules-of-cba-thunder-may-find-keeping-core-difficult

Under the CBA ratified by owners and players in December, the salary cap and luxury tax threshold cannot go lower in 2012-13 than their levels in the first year of the deal -- $58 million and $70.3 million, respectively. Despite a robust post-lockout recovery that included salvaging all $900 million or so of the league's national broadcast revenues, sources familiar with the NBA's finances believe overall revenues did not increase enough in 2011-12 to push the cap and tax significantly beyond current levels until 2013-14

Detroit would never do this trade. and if they did, they would be dumb.
