I don't think they would include Evans in such a trade. Maybe Davis + #8 for their #5 would get it done. We need to do that kind of trade more than they do, so we'll have to provide more

Re: Raps seeking to trade pick for Barnes (Rumour)
We need to rebuild a quick fix won't do anything. This team however needs to draft well. A rookie contract is the opening we require to fix in on a good free agent. This year however it's pretty crap but next year guys like Harden, Josh Smith, and Iggy are up. I think the Raptors need one more year of a real rebuild before they get anywhere. Trading down then acquiring say Perry Jones and another high level prospect might be what this squad needs. Then you acquire a guy like Iguodala and you might even be set. I think a guy like Amino might even come cheap.

Although Barnes will be a rookie, trading up for him sounds very win now. He covers a lot of things that BC addressed in what he was looking for in a small forward.

I would be pretty happy for Bargnani + 8 pick for Evans + 5 pick.
Then next season have:
PG - Nash
SG - Evans
SF - Barnes (or MGK)
PF - Amir/Davis
C - Jonas

Definitely don't think we are getting Tyreke, so we could let that thought go.
Trading up to 5 makes a ton of sense, and given BC's wheeling and dealing history I would like to see the following outcome:
This is a six player draft and Portland has made it no secret that they want Drummond.
If we can land 5 and Garcia for 8, James Johnson and Ed Davis
Assuming Drummound is around at 5, we flip the 5th and Kleiza to Portland for 6th and Matthews or if Portland wants him bad enough 6th and 11th for 5th and 37th.
We then have a few options. We could flip 6th, Calderon and Kleiza to Philly for Iggy and 15th.
We could draft either Drummond or MKG at 6th and take someone like Lillard, Waiters or Rivers at 11th.
Regardless we come out with one more quality player.

I really don't see you guys putting up a good enough offer to entice the Kings to be honest.

Thats the problem. People sincerely believe that Bargnani or DeRozan is roughly on par with Evans because he had a 'somewhat' disappointing soph. year. At the top of their game for each of those 3 players, Evans just **** on both Bargnani and DeRozan.

Or just keep Barnes. You are making it way too complicated Ben!

I mean hey, i'm not the biggest Evans supporter - but people think we gave up on Tyreke completely and that's not the case at all.. if he has another down-year this upcoming season, then all the small-balling trade offers mentioned with him lately would have merits - But the Kings right now are giving Tyreke another shot, and if they do move him it'll have to be a very good offer - Now, I don't blame you guys or anyone else for saying "why would we, his value is decreasing" - but that's how the situation is for us right now.
I mean, who in #8 could justify having the same value/impact as Tyreke for us?
The way I see it - #5 > Bargs, and Tyreke > #8. So there's just no reason for us doing that.

To move up three spots? Historically it hasn't cost that much.

you make it sound simple. 3 spots is going from the middle of the 3rd tier to the bottom of the 2nd tier. that's a major difference in players quality.

You make it sound like everyone's draft board is exactly the same. Go look at a bunch of trades where teams have moved up that many spots in the draft and you'll see that the price isn't that high. Ed Davis and a lotto protected future first would be about the max value.

we'll leave this open for a wee bit. I've PMed the OP to find out more details regarding the rumour.
we'll let people talk about it for a bit until we can get further confirmation.

Re: Raps seeking to trade pick for Barnes (Rumour)
why the **** would we want Evans if we're gunning for Nash? at least DD is a receiver, Evans needs the ball in his hands. why would anyone even contemplate him being part of such a trade?
Barnes probably won't fall to 5th but if he does you offer to take on Garcia's contract, give them the eighth pick, Ed Davis, and possibly cash and/or second rounder(s). No need to get fancy.

Tyreke might be better than #8 despite his negative-impact tendencies, but #5 is not better than Bargnani, who would be worth more than #2 but less than #1 IMO. He's more talented than anybody coming in, nobody looks like a first option, though Davis' defensive impact could be priceless along with pretty good offensive potential. Specifically, nobody in this draft other than Davis would help the Kings more than AB, the perfect guy to play with DMC and Tyreke.
What I don't understand is why folks think Barnes is ready to contribute. He's not actually a shot-maker yet and he can't do much else. If he were hitting 3s at well over 40% from the college line and was a dagger machine, that would be different, but his only real strength needs a lot of work. 36% from college three is not something to hang your hat on, nor is HS hype.

2004 - LAC traded #2 for Pedrag Drobniak, #4, #33
2005 - Portland traded #3 for #6, #27 and #30 (2006)
2006 - Chicago traded #2 for #4, VIctor Khryapa and a 2007 2nd round pick.
Disagree all you want. Those are the most flattering swaps for the seller in recent history. And those are picks that had a lot more value than #5.

We're disagreeing if it would or would not entice the Kings to say yes - and I still say it won't. we'd rather keep the pick then get someone like Ed Davis(when we're likely to get John Henson with our pick to begin with) - or almost any other 'reasonable' offer you guys come up with. I just don't see it happening.

Something along the lines of Ed Davis, James Johnson, our 8th pick and both our second round pick for 5th and tyreke Evans and bad contract if they want to get rid of one fair deal value wise to move up 3 spots and giving two prospects for one
