Morey Declines to put timetable on Rockets as Contender! lol

Post#1 » by Vampire Diaries » Sun Jun 24, 2012 6:04 pm

I'll go ahead and put a time-table on it then. The Rockets will be a contender as soon as Daryl Morey is gone! It's a joke around the league because Houston fans call him a wizard, moneyball, and every trade he's ever done, Rocket fans just act like he pulled the wool over the other GM's eyes and totally destroyed them. Meanwhile, everyone else around the league is saying "The rockets didn't win that trade." The mathematical/analytical approach does not work ladies and gentlemen. His trades are not epic like you think they are. He hasn't found the late gems like tony parker and manu ginobili in the drafts like you think he did. He is a terrible GM, and he is no wizard.

I was reading the forum b4 i posted, and there is a thread going on about your top 5 assets. Parsons is your top asset? Gentlemen, i'll say that again...Parsons is your top asset. Who in the flying f*ck is Parsons. I watch alot of NBA, I have no idea who this is. The Lakers top assets are Kobe, Bynum, Pau, etc. Miami's is LBJ, Wade, etc. Even hillbilly a$$ OKC has durant, westbrook, and Harden. Minnesota....yes, Minnesota has Kevin Love, Rubio......but you, the Houston Rockets, your top asset is Parsons. Who is this? Is this a player, an assistant coach that you really like, maybe an assistan GM? I have no idea who Parsons is, and no one else probably does either. This is your top asset? If this is true....Morey CLEARLY needs to get the hell out.

Every trade, draft pick, etc you guys act like he just pulled off the biggest heist in the world, like he's a God. Let's see......He's been your GM since 2007....here is the Rockets history since 2007...
2007: Lost in Round 1
2008: Lost in Round 1
2009: Lost in Round 2
2010: Did Not Make Playoffs
2011: Did Not Make Playoffs
2012: Did Not Make Playoffs

WOW!! EPIC!!! Dear God he is amazing, look at that resume! You guys are going to have to worry about other teams calling and offering him more money! LOL.

Here are his drafts....

2007: Drafted Aaron Brooks, who is no longer in the league. And if he is still in the league, he's a nobody.
2008: Drafted Nicolas Batum. Pretty good pick and player here.....no longer on team
2009: Houston had no picks. Usually that means because the team traded it for a unbelievable trade and are now loaded.....not the case here
Then later on....you drafted freakin Marcus Morris lol are you kidding me. I loved the olajuwon days, the t-mac n yao days, if you ever plan on having a roster like those again. get rid of this clown Morey. That number **** belongs in an accounting firm, not a nba gms office

McGrady2Head, tell me how does LeBron's ass tastes.

All I'm gonna say is that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to surround 3 superstars with a bunch of role players.

Roll tide.

!) Morey has won most of the trades he's worked out, just because they didn't have "big name players" doesn't mean anything.
2) Minnesota and OKC are two teams you brought up. Okay lets analyze this, you failed to mention thats those teams had to SUCK BAD ENOUGH TO GET THOSE PICKS. Durant #2 pick, Westbrook #4 pick, Harden #3 pick. Minnesota: Rubio- #5, Love #5. We haven't had a pick that high since Yao.
3) The hardest thing to be in the nba is the mediocre team. You don't have the picks to improve and don't have the players to finish high in the west/attract free agents.

4) My most important point, you're an idiot. I really shouldn't have even responded to this trolling thread which shows that you have no knowledge of basketball but I had to so you accomplished your goal.

-By the way, good job bringing up minny. They haven't made the playoffs in almost a decade and have a .333 winning percentage since then. Kahn has made a TON of horrible draft picks/moves but because his teams is consistently in the lotto he gets a pass for FINALLY getting two good players in rubio and love? So he's a good gm huh....

So how many more years of mediocrity are we going to be sitting through?

Building through the draft is important. Being able to spot the likes of Parker and Ginobli in the latter rounds is great.

But we should really let that go. When Parker and Ginobli were drafted, it was over a decade ago. It's been a long time since those two and the likes of Gilbert Arenas were rookies. Scouting in Europe and the Far East have improved greatly. NBA teams are well versed in European League play and no one looks a bit surprised if a team spends a pick on a 19 year old prospect from Croatia anymore. San Antonio's success as the first mover on this segment of the talent pool has yielded them great results, but their success means that other folks are now looking at the same places. Let's not assume that the opportunity to find cheap talent is ever present.

If a few folks don't know who Chandler Parsons is given the multitude of times he has been ranked on nba.com's rookie rankings, that's ignorance that said folks are flaunting. Chandler Parsons as our number one asset isn't even remotely true. Given his performance/price_tag, he is extremely under valued. But our most valuable asset remains to be Kyle Lowry, our biggest trade bait Kevin Martin and our best power forward is Luis Scola.

Comparing the Lakers to the Rockets are a mistake. The Lakers went all in with $86,342,229 in salaries. The Rockets are at $59,425,113. For almost 26 million more, that bought 7 more wins in a weaker division. I am not sure how to rank the Lakers assets, but at this rate, I think at least a few of them are over priced. If you don't want to think about money procurring talent, then I suggest you try your favorite fantasy league. Some of us fans on the other hand would really want to appreciate how it is all put to gether, and this sort of analysis really helps us in attempting to comprehend the topic.

Good troll, btw.

of course
the way they are doing
avoiding tanking and try to get superstar through trade and free agent
superstar free agent don't want to sign with non contender unless you overpay for them

Rockets WILL make the playoffs this year.

And they will go DEEP.

How far? We will find out. But lets look at the teams that made it this year and predict for next year.

1. Spurs - Uncertain
2. OKC - most likely best in the west.
3. Lakers - fall flat, playoffs unlikely or 7,8
4. Memphis - uncertain
5. Clippers- I dont think are that great but make the playoffs
6. Nuggets - uncertain
7. Dallas - Dont make playoffs
8. Utah - uncertain

Teams in the west that didnt make the playoffs that will compete next year for spits:
Houston
Minnesota
NO

It seems like every team in the west is able to compete for a spot in the playoffs and with most of the spots open its up for grabs.

This upcomming season anything is possible.

I see Houston in the middle of the playoff pack. This year they were up to 6?!?!

I think the Rockets will be one of the best teams next season. But the west is HIGHLY competitive atm,.

spolgar, you might enjoy the rant I just had on debt. I mean, assuming you don't just blow my cranial capacity clear out of the water again. Past that, qft.

Same with eagles07's point 4.

It's like every keeps saying this train is coming and it never gets near. I'm offering 10 to 1 odds that the Spurs make the playoffs next year.

I'm not fan of Daryl "the wizard" but let's be fair here. He came to Houston thinking it was a team with two all-stars that just needed to have role players plugged in around them. Well, by the time he did that one of those two stars had effectively quit on the team, and the other had retirement just around the corner.

That Aaron Brooks draft, well Morey just happened to trade him for arguably the most coveted free agent point guard available.

Batum, well yeah, I mean who would waste the potential of a guy who's going to be averaging 13ppg after four seasons to risk getting a star for one year.

It's really hard to build an NBA team when you're a borderline playoff team. You don't get good draft picks and you're not exactly a free agent magnet. So I'd say Morey has done a decent job of fielding a solid group of guys who can compete each year given what he has to work with. You want to find me one other team which had to essentially be blown up three years ago that has a winning record now???

You are an idiot! Lets really take a look at the West.

1. Spurs - Not loosing anybody(unless Parker loses an eye) and role players are getting better - 2nd
2. OKC - will be best team in basketball - 1st
3. Lakers - with bynum, bryant and any third piece, it's LA , players will come. they are easily 4-5
4. Memphis - Who are they losing? They are young and improving 4-5
5. Clippers- another year for paul and griffen, plus good pieces around them. 3rd seed
6. Nuggets - uncertain? I'll give you that one
7. Dallas - Dont make playoffs, Really? Look for Mavs to land a big FA and be top 4
8. Utah - maybe the brightest future of any team in the west not named OKC

Minny - good young core, bound to see another star help that squad.
NO - out for now
GS - good young gaurds, big bigs, I'd take their team over the rockets in a heartbeat
Sac - Cousins is waiting to burst onto the scene.
Port - Aldridge, Batum, and 2 top 11 picks, rebuilding done
Pho - Out

So the Rockets will be battling with the Nuggets, Minny, Golden State, Port and Sac for the last 2 seed. My we have come far...

Besides the Suns and Nuggets, give me a team you would not trade rosters with?

Return to Houston Rockets
