Doesn't Odom have a home in Miami? He spends time here. His antics in Dallas shouldn't tar his reputation, but it very well might cost him money. He's not that old, he's got a lot of tread left on his tires, but it was obvious that he just didn't want to be in Dallas. He had no link to the city or the franchise. Who in their right mind, other than the Heat and Riley would risk anything on Odom?

If Mike Miller misses a year (or retires) I'd rather have Ray Allen. I think he has a bone to pick with the Celtics for how they treated him, and he'd love nothing more than to help hated Miami get a 2nd title so he can wear that ring on his middle finger while he extends it in Ainge's general direction.

Odom would only be worth the vet's min. After last season I don't see him getting a ton of offers anyway, and he's a risk: if he continues to play like he did in Dallas, he's useless and should be waived.

i just found an intersting idea about Odom.

he's not likely to take the Vet Min, mainly for Ego reasons but also the $ isnt enough.

BUT, we could also give him a 1 year, 2.9 Mil$ contract and leave our Mini-MLE un-touched.
How u ask? we use the disabled player exception on Miller. we give Mike a full year to rest and heal, and get Lamar for that year. if Lamar bounces back to his normal level - he could sigh a decent bigger contract next year with us or with someone else.
Basicelly we get him for a one year rental for a very decent price and risk almost nothing. he gets a chance to prove he's still a player while makeing reasonable money and playing in a very exciting team and city he knows well.

makes sense no?

I Don't think Lamar fits anymore, we would not be able to offer him much, he seams to really want to be in LA

Call me lame and all, but Khloe Kardashian is hilarious. She has a personality unlike her sisters, notably the one who got famous just for a sex tape.

HOWEVER, Lamar quit on the Mavs because he was in freakin Texas. He loved the LA life and so did his wife. They were not happy.

Lamar also didn't know anyone on the Mavs, not like knowing someone like Wade or even Caron Butler (those days were fun).

I think if Lamar came here, he would get his act together. He lives the high life and his wife already had a show, something about "Taking Miami" or something. They love Miami.

Now LA is where Lamar's family, fame and fortune is. Being an LA Laker, that reputation (especially after winning) and getting that reality show, being on that Kardashian's reality show... the dude was living large.

It might be a distraction, but honestly, this team was magnified in 2010-2011 like no other, this team knows how to over come outside noise.

I'd welcome Lamar, he would do wonders for our big line up, spreads the floor. He is a great player. He just had so much going on last year.

But even with all that said, I wouldn't be surprised if he became a Clipper again. Just being in LA, I think is what Lamar wants. Actually, being in LA is what his wife wants.

Lamar seems to be a sad puppy dog unless he is in LA. Since he cannot re-sign with the Lakers until December, I do not think he will wait it out that long and instead go back to where it began with the Clippers. This will allow him and his family to remain in LA (which he and Khloe desperately want) to focus on their reality nonsense and as an added bonus he gets to play on a playoff team. He does not seem motivated at this stage of his career to win anymore championships since he already has two.

I am glad that some of you are starting to come around on Odom. He is the 2nd most versatile player we could get. (1st-Garnett) If motivated would give us the rebounding we've needed, as well as everything else he brings.

Allen & all these other guards people are talking about are not needed, help inside is what is needed.

C - Bosh - Anthony - 27th
PF- Odom -Haslem -
SF- Bron - Battier -
SG- Wade - Harris -
PG-Chalmers - Cole

Now all we have left is two spts depending on what Miller, & Jones will do.
So will we get an exception fro Millers injury, or is Miller coming back?

I think if anything Bosh will play PF exclusively next year until the playoffs

Basketball wise, Odom is a perfect fit for us. His versatility and ability to play and guard multiple positions would be great for us. I wouldn't mind using the Injury Exception or the Vet Min(if he'd take it) but I don't think I'd want us to use the mini MLE on him. We need to see where he's at mentally and how he'd feel about coming back to Miami.

I see no problem with Bosh starting at C. All we need is an actual C who could come off the bench & play 15/20 min.

Picture this:
Kaman signs for the Mini-MLE and Odom signs for the Vet Min. or for the Injured Exception.

Kaman/Curry/Turiaf
Bosh/Udonis/Joel
LeBron/Odom/Miller
Wade/Battier/27th Pick
Chalmers/Cole/Harris

Now that is a DEEP team!

In 2010 he was the 3rd best Laker with the 3rd best Kardashian.

Obviously on the Heat he'd be the 4th best so please, so does that mean we'd have to take Bruce Jenner's wife as well?
