False. NBA players love Houston. You act as if we've been trying for a star for a decade. Yao Ming retired not too long ago...

Houston MUST do this. Trade Lowry and their 2 picks for enough assets (top 10 picks) and package them with Kevin Martin and Samuel Dalembert for Dwight. Then Houston still has a max slot available for Deron Williams. By my math they could acquire Dwight for Martin, Dally and picks, sign Deron to a max deal and still have about $8 mil left in cap space.

If the Rockets can get Howard for two top 10 picks...heck yeah, but i doubt the Magic will only want just that..

What other choice do they have? They wouldn't get any better than that, without Dwight signing an extension.

Dragic
Lee
Parsons
Scola
Dwight

I think Dalembert has already been bought out, but if trading Lowry means acquiring Deron I'm all for it.

If they can get Howard, they can always try for Josh Smith(Howard's childhood buddy) since his contract is expiring and likely out of Atlanta too.....pairing those two up. This would be their backup plan if they can't get Deron to come and play with Howard in Houston. Whatever they need to do in order Howard to sign that extension, i'm all for it.

in talks with Sacramento (5th) & Toronto (8th).

I could see Lowry + pick to Kings for #5/filler then Dalembert or Martin + pick to Toronto for #8/filler...

Why would Dalembert be bought out? He has a very trade-able contract...

Expiring and only partially guaranteed.

I read somewhere that he was bought out. His buyout amount is only $1.5M

I did not get that they needed to trade any picks with Lowry, but that they were trying to package the picks for an additional lotto pick

As Raptor fan I hope we're no part of this.

I don't want to trade out of the draft for Lowry....especially with news that we're the frontrunner for signing Nash.

For those not following the breakdown of what HOU is trying to do:

Lowry for #8
#14 + #16 for #5

Looks like it would be the 8th (Toronto) for Kyle Lowry and the 14th+16th(HOU) + piece for the 5th pick (SAC) if SAC is really high on Henson/Harkless.

UPDATE (12:48 a.m. ET): Upon hearing of Sunday night's developments, one rival general manager told ESPN.com that he believes Houston's real aim is acquiring two top-10 picks this week to turn around quickly and offer both to the Orlando Magic as part of a considerable trade offer for Dwight Howard.

The Rockets' willingness to trade for Howard -- even without the All-Star center's signature on a contract extension -- is an open secret around the league. But it's believed that two top-eight picks, assuming Houston managed to complete trades with both Sacramento and Toronto, would seriously pique the interest of new Magic general manager Rob Hennigan, who could then quickly start following the same sort of roster-building blueprint relied on by his previous employers in Oklahoma City.

Acquiring those early lottery picks, though, only represents half of Houston's challenge if Howard is indeed the Rockets' target. The other hurdle is convincing Hennigan, who hasn't even been on the job for a week in Central Florida, to part with Howard so quickly. As much as he's been schooled in building through the draft while working alongside Thunder GM Sam Presti, Hennigan could opt to take a more measured approach, make one more run at trying to convince Howard to sign an extension before entering the final year of his contract and then trade him later in the summer if those efforts go nowhere.

Wow, Houston created quite an asset with that contract.. I could seriously see 5, 8, Dally + K-Mart landing them Dwight.. Hate to say it as a Lakers fan.. Maybe Morey's plan is to get Dwight to flip for Bynum, who will re-sign "anywhere with a bank"

yeah, with a new FO complicates things a little...the new guys usually are hesitant and will take their time, but Howard's insistence on wanting out will make it easier for Hennigan to part ways.

Hmm... Lowry for #8. Not a really bad trade but I would want more.
