I do think that without injuries, and with a semi-offensive post presence to play off of, that Scola's production should at least partially return. An amnesty might be necessary with Howard.
Morey 2020.

Q:How are they experts when they're always wrong?

Magic Fan here

After listening what our new GM say i really can see the magic trading D12 to u guys

Deron would follow and D12 would extent for sure.

D12+Hedo (his contract in 2014 is partially guaranteed)+ Duhon (maybe) for Lowry+Kmart+Dalembert+parsons+#14+#16+future 1st

Houston would hit an homerun with a combo Deron+D12

It would be a shame for us to lose D12 for so little but i think D12 has made his mind and his ready to start a new dinasty in HOU.

Thats some big pills to swallow for any team and alot more than than what had to be taken with other stars being moved. Granted Houston doesn't have any stars or high picks going out but then again D12 would only stay with maybe 3-4 teams that could actually trade for him. After this trade could Houston still even sign Williams outright? From the Rockets POV the success of this trade doesn't even lay with Orlando, it would lie with chance of Daron signing with Houston. If he doesn't, Houston is screwed for possibly the next decade+ with no picks to start rebuilding with until 2015 (future 1st sent to ORL). I think it would be closer if Duhon+future 1st was taken out.

I don't see why deron wouldn't come.
He want to team up with d12 badly.

First things first. Would Houston still have the cap for Williams after that trade? If not Houston obviously doesn't do this trade. Second thing would be convicting him to sign here. A little better than 50/50 imo but its far from guaranteed. What is100% guaranteed is that Houston would suck(BAD) if Howard left. Houston would finally be forced to rebuild but we'd need our future picks to do so. That is why Houston future1st would be off the table. Losing Howard and a future top 5 lottery pick are grounds for termination.

if we sign Rashard we'll have 4/5ths of the 2009 Finals team starters.
Howard, Lee, Lewis and Hedo.

I don't want to lose Parsons but I realize he's a hometown kid so would be a good draw for ORL.

I still think the 3 draft picks is too much

I think we will trade Howard by mid or late January if he doesn't re-sign by then. I think we can get a few quality players for Howard. That's why i am hoping we get Howard by July and not like September or October...the more time we have, the better. I think what Lars is trying to do is create trade scenarios that Howard would agree to an extension immediately by having him play with players he knows or likes(Smith and DWill) which is the smarter thing to do.

Trust me, if we trade for Howard, we will not trade him to another team during the year only because he isn't willing to sign an extension (yet).

What you're banking on is him not leaving the extra money on the table in free agency. Of course you must at least have a semi-competitive team in order for that strategy to pay off.

This would leave us with 9 million in cap room. We could still amnesty Scola giving us 18. However Lee and Camby need money too.

Deron / ???
Lee / Bud
Turk / Bud
Patterson / Dmo
Howard / Camby

Im just not sure about that. Im pretty sure taking back Turk is off the table.

True, Rockets and Howard will really have to think hard about it. If we are winning at least 60% of our games, i hope Howard can see the light. Also, he knows that extra year($20mil) on contract is a big difference. I was just saying that if it comes down to where he absolutely won't sign an extension, we might just have to pull the trigger on trading him or at least have to field offers. By doing this, he might just re-sign with us right away. Let's just get him first by July and then we'll worry about the rest later..

Deron Williams only wants to play for Dallas or Brooklyn.

well dwight isn't going to dallas and I don't think the Nets have what it takes to get him in a trade since they gave up the 6th pick for 3 months of Gerald Wallace.

I don't think Deron cares what Dwight does anymore.

We don't know for sure, but the other backup plan is to get Josh Smith who has an expiring contract and played with Howard since grade school.

ESPN.com: Houston Rockets trying to trade for Dwight Howard?

Post#36 » by polo007 » Mon Jun 25, 2012 5:44 am

http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_ ... p-in-draft

UPDATE (12:48 a.m. ET): Upon hearing of Sunday night's developments, one rival general manager told ESPN.com that he believes Houston's real aim is acquiring two top-10 picks this week to turn around quickly and offer both to the Orlando Magic as part of a considerable trade offer for Dwight Howard.

The Rockets' willingness to trade for Howard -- even without the All-Star center's signature on a contract extension -- is an open secret around the league. But it's believed that two top-eight picks, assuming Houston managed to complete trades with both Sacramento and Toronto, would seriously pique the interest of new Magic general manager Rob Hennigan, who could then quickly start following the same sort of roster-building blueprint relied on by his previous employers in Oklahoma City.

Acquiring those early lottery picks, though, only represents half of Houston's challenge if Howard is indeed the Rockets' target. The other hurdle is convincing Hennigan, who hasn't even been on the job for a week in Central Florida, to part with Howard so quickly. As much as he's been schooled in building through the draft while working alongside Thunder GM Sam Presti, Hennigan could opt to take a more measured approach, make one more run at trying to convince Howard to sign an extension before entering the final year of his contract and then trade him later in the summer if those efforts go nowhere.

Well that interesting. I you don't land Howard with the picks then you still have two top eight picks.

rocketsballin wrote:plz dont get dwight

Still don't see your logic. When you go for superstars to take the bad with good. Also if we somehow land Howard and he magically brings D-Will would you still be opposed to it. Instantly we become Western Conference Title contenders. I will take the best big man in game no matter what. Well unless he does something horrid off the court.
