Rasmus CF... Gose as trade chip?

Post#1 » by number15 » Sun Jun 24, 2012 10:27 pm

yeh, im 100% sold on Colby Rasmus lonterm as a JAY..... only his offense but also his defense to me should be permit in CF for the JAYS long term

Gose is a great prospect, but I dont see the huge superstar thing everyone else sees in him. In Rasmus though, i see a lesser version of Joey Hamilton long term.

I think moving Gose to LF would be a waste of his talent as he is a great CF defensively and theres where his value rides...... I dont want to take Rasmus out of CF for him though, he is also solid

Snider deserves a shot to get LF long term... or atleast one last chance at it

In my opinion, Gose should be future trade bait.

Well, Gose has potential to be a left fielder just as much as a CF. Rajai Davis is having a nice year, but has to prove he can sustain it. Snider and Thames have no more claim to being a possible LF of the future than Gose. And there is the downstream issue of Jose moving to 1B. If EE is deemed to expensive to keep, Gose could play right and Jose could move to 1B as early as next season.

How often have you seen Gose play?

Another option is Rasmus in LF and Gose in CF.

Much of this trade talk depends upon how quickly Marisnick develops, so I wouldn't expect any movement this year.

Bautista to 1B, Gose to RF. It makes the most sense.

Current Rasmus has enough power to play a corner outfield spot. Gose may not; he's still young and his power could still develop. I don't see why they couldn't co-exist in the same outfield.

Yep! Good luck getting Bautista to move for a rookie though :-? It'd probably be a slap in the face just to ask Jose to move from the position he enjoys playing the most, especially for an unproven player at the major league level.

I would consider this. By most accounts Gose will be something special defensively. Not a problem as he will likely repeat the level (AAA).

Let's not forget Bautista has a cannon of an arm which is waisted at first base.

Gose has an even better arm, and with more range.

Exactly. The guy taking Bautista's spot wouldn't have no arm. It's really down to either Sierra or Gose. Both have tremendous arms.

I doubt we get true value for Gose now. Market for prospects has kind of cooled off. Giving the boy a go at RF is probably the best option for the future, although he may have to play LF for 2013.

I would think you keep the speedy Gose in CF and move Rasmus to one of the corner spots

Rasmus is the one moving to corner if they both stay.

gose has better speed and arm then rasmus which is scary cus rasmus is pretty fast with good arm in CF, this is gold glove CF stuff for next decade here...and its not like we have long term solution at LF, and jose aint gettin younger...but if it helps net good pitching, then ya

Not even an issue that needs to be addressed yet. Let's see if Rasmus can end the season with good numbers and in that time we will have a better idea of how Gose has progressed

This is a newbie question... but what does it mean that he doesnt have enough power for a corner? I'm assuming its bat power so why would it matter if we are talking defense? Wouldnt that just mean he would have to bat in the lower portion of the order? Either that or he doesnt hit dingers so if he's a solid contact hitter then lead off? I'm thinking along the lines of a Pierre or even Rajai, they dont have power but play the outfield, so what does that mean? Its been stated that he has speed and an arm so I'm scratching that off so thats why Im assuming its offense that power is being referred to. Again though, newbie question and I'm just trying to learn.

Rasmus hits his 14th homer (he's killing it!!). I didn't want to start a new thread but does anybody else get reminded of Anakin Skywalker? Maybe it's just the hair?
