Cory Higgins - Tell me another free agent we could have signed that would have made us better.

Ben Uzoh is who got chopped the last night of preseason to make way for Higgins. Uzoh is WAY better than Higgins.

potential others, pre-season:
Dante Cunningham
Greg Stiemsma

mid-season:
Jeremy Lin
Terrence Williams
Gerald Green
Greg Smith

It's one thing to hire your children for office jobs, another to clog the last spot on the roster with your son. Signing him preseason might have been an interesting gamble, given his size and background. Guaranteeing his contract mid season, once it became apparent how terrible he was, was an embarrassment imo.

And if we had one of those guys we would have won 10 games? Terrance Williams was traded..not a free agent....but anyway this thread is about Coach Dunlap...sorry to get it off track.

I think he is going to put us on the right track...hopefully he grows with the team and can stick around for a while even when the team gets better.

#3 Rick Higgins
Senior Guard
6-1 | 175
Danville, Calif.

Higgins transferred to Colorado from Cal Poly to play with his brother, Cory. He sat out of the 2008-09 season due to transfer rules and lost a year of eligibility because he already had redshirted at Cal Poly, where he played in 43 games, with two starts in two years, and averaged 1.2 points per game

Rod Higgins is simply shameless. I am starting to believe Larry Brown. How can someone abuse friendship like this. MJ would rather sell this team than hurt this man.
The curse of Higgins!

Some people on this board are just bitter fools who will take any chance to try to drag their team in the dirt. It makes me wonder if they're actually fans, or just here to try to make the team look bad.

Or they're just woefully and irreparably ignorant of all things relating to the operation of NBA franchises.

In either case, read an article or something dudes. Stop blaming "higgins" and "mj" for everything just because you once heard the name that one time.

The problem with Cory was that because of him, we had a 15-men roster, couldn't call up anyone from D-legue (even just to slot that player into No-Bobcat ranking in Cho-system) unless we would waive someone which would have to be Cory because of his small contract otherwise it would scream nepotism even more if we sack someone more expensive just to pay more money for a player not on roster. We kind of did that then with Diaw anyway just to choose Jamario Moon of all D-leaguers. If it prevents us from giving a D-legue talent a real try then it is reason good enough to hate Cory Higgins signing. Higgins Sr. should get credit and kind of free pass for getting Cho here but it would be nice if he would do more to not look like he is just a talking head riding coattails.

The Cory Higgins guarantee was indefensible. I can't stand Higgins, as I think he operates more as a friend of MJ than a savvy basketball operator. However, he occupies a position that clearly Jordan wants him to have. I guess somebody's got to do it :dontknow: .

I just want Dunlap to get HIS guys for this team. Son of Silas will probably be kept since the posse clearly includes he and his Dad (and MJ feels he owes Paul back for the duty he pulled steering the titanic this past season). Hopefully Cory Higgins is not retained as a player.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Ok, dont blame the owner and the president of basketball operations for this team going down the drain. Who do we blame????

Blame Bob Johnson or Larry Brown.

MJ and even Higgins deserve credit for the Cho hire and therefor some of the glory of Cho's decisions.

For the first time since our inception I've been really excited as a Bobcats fan.

It doesn't just take an owner with deep pockets to build a winner, I'm sure Cho feels much better in this situation than with moneybags Paul Allen.

Jordan has already proven he's willing to shell out for a top five payroll but why do that when we're nowhere near a contender??

We're on the right track.

The team went down the drain ON PURPOSE. It was a designed tube shoot. It was the goal. Not a consequence.

They should be commended for doing it in only one year unlike some other teams that take 3-4 years just to clear salary and hit rock bottom.

This is the most exciting offseason in Bobcats History, and the second most exciting was last summer. It doesn't get any better than this for rebuilding teams. Blame luck/Stern for not getting the #1 overall pick.

But sometimes you have to clear the drain out instead of pouring the same trash down it every year.

In the end, Higgins is in control of non-personnel basketball operations. Cho is in control of putting a basketball team and staff on the floor. Michael Jordan is in control of signing the checks, enjoying some games each year, and being our face. And hell, it's tough being the face of a 7 win team. Especially for a guy like Jordan.

i guess that means that english and jenkins are definitely in play at #31. also means barnes is definitely in play at #2 or #4.

getting reggie williams back to 100% would also be a huge boost. he was terrible last year. hopefully he will put in some hard work this summer to get jumper back to automatic and also get in better shape.

I hope somebody works with Hendo to help him develop a three-point shot. Think about how good he would be with a consistent jumper........

Rick also tweeted that he thinks we'll pick English at #31.

I hope we can find a very good shooting coach for Kemba and Hendo. If they are going to have a consistent jump/three point shot, they will surely help in speeding up this rebuilding process.

Sounds like a smokescreen to drub up more bids for Beal

English is one of those guys that have benefited from the scouting process. I like his teammate Marcus Denmon too.

He said the option of trading down "is on the board."

"I think anybody in our situation would have that on the board," Dunlap said. "(Our) people are very smart up top. So options and thinking of your variables is a very smart thing to do."

Dunlap said the decision on whether to remain at No. 2 or move down will be up to his bosses -- general manager Rich Cho and director of basketball operations Rod Higgins. As of right now they're not talking about the draft, though both are expected to address the media at a pre-draft press conference Wednesday.
