Yes.

The Bulls draft well. The Bulls trade well. Bulls fans are fortunate to have such a quality front office. And yet every year, the narrative about the do-nothing front office rears its ugly head (even in the context of bad trade ideas that people become obsessed with merely for the sake of change).

The only problem I'm starting to perceive for Bulls fans is that the owner might be looking to dump salary instead of maintaining a contender during the precious years of Rose's career. And if so, we've been deceived.

They probably wanted us to take Biedrins. Gar/Pax know what they are doing. They aren't going to get bent over.

This thread has grown so big!

I think the Bulls are mad that Deng won't get the surgery.

Don't cross GarPax!

As I said from the very beginning, a deal for Deng was unlikely based on what the Bulls were asking for. (TPE + lotto pick).

Did the Bulls try? Yes.

Would they be pressured into a deal they weren't comfortable making? No chance.

Hence, the Bulls will decline options on the bench mob, and fill in the rest with guys like James Anderson, Delonte West, Rasual Butler, etc while resigning Asik.

I don't think so. No other team is in Play. Maybe the Bulls would think about a Deng trade when Miami offers them Lebron.....Yah, maybe they would think a second about.

This would allow the Bulls to draft a young player -- who would remain on a rookie contract -- to develop and pair alongside Rose when he returns to full strength and also chase a veteran point guard with the full midlevel exception this summer in free agency to cover for when Rose sits.

Golden State is over the salary cap and thus would have to send back salaries close to Deng's $13.3 million salary for next season. That doesn't interest the Bulls.

People keep saying that the Warriors want us to take Biedrins.

Duh - we must take someone. Both teams are over cap.

We either take Biedrins/Wright or we take Jefferson.

I dont think the Warriors care which one we take. They will do either trade.

However, I just dont see Deng going to Warriors - or anywhere else

Seems likely. And as a punishment they've decided he has to stay on one of the best teams in the NBA, earning a very high salary, in one of the biggest markets in the world, playing as many minutes as he wants for a coach who absolutely loves him.

That'll learn'im.

You have to match the salaries. You can't expect any team to adsorb Deng's contract!

Luol Deng – The Chicago Bulls are weighing all of their options and could trade Luol Deng prior to the draft. Chicago would love to move into the lottery and they’d be willing to part with Deng if the right deal came along. The Bulls are upset that Deng is representing Britain in the Olympics rather than undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left wrist. Deng has heard the recent trade rumors and has accepted the fact that he may be dealt in the near future, according to sources close to the forward. Chicago would love to add a young star that could develop alongside Derrick Rose. The Golden State Warriors, holding the seventh pick in the draft, have expressed significant interest in Deng. When Britain’s national team started their training camp in Houston this week, Golden State’s East Coast scout Speedy Claxton was in attendance to take a look at Deng.

So, teams in the Top 10 with TPE's:

2. Charlotte - 3.5mil
3. Washington - 1.7mil
4. Cleveland - 1.1mil
6. Portland - 1.2mil
8. Toronto - 7.6mil
10. N.O. - 2.3mil

So, going by what the Bulls are asking for, the most attractive teams would be Toronto, Charlotte, and New Orleans, in that order. Perhaps all the Golden State talk was to up the ante for Toronto (seeing that GS was one spot ahead of them).

Remember something about any deal regarding a Bulls' player in next few weeks. Gar and Co. want to subtract $ not add more to payroll.

Quoting a Hoopsworld Source.

Unless something big happens over the next few days, Deng will be a Bull. I honestly think it has to be with a team that hasn't been mentioned yet or a third team involved. Now it gets complicated.

Expect the Bulls only move future 2nds, buy 2nds, maybe Watson, Korver, and Brewer. That's about it.

Yeah, not sure why we are looking at GS. Looking at Toronto, they are far and away the most attractive trade partner for Deng. We could send them Deng and only have to take back about 4mil in salary. For example, a trade for someone like Kleiza works... http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6r5y3os (just used for salary purposes, not familiar with Kleiza at all.

The Bulls don't want to go into luxury tax if they can help it. They know they will struggle this season. Why add more to payroll right now?
