He fires pretty much the entire front office(including what 6 scouts?) and wants a guy from Detroit who pretty much is a draft specialist. Houston's trying to acquire lottery picks, and sources are talking about Howard wanting out before or during the draft. On top of that were probably looking at a first time head coach. I'd be shocked if Dwight's still here next week.

Or you can simply say that he will trade our pick, so there is no need for scouts this offseason? No one can know anything.

We can't trade our pick. We traded it last year.

Agreed, I think most people here are nervous because of the Magics history of drafting. I would not mind giving this a shot if Dwight is still on the fence(houston package with 2 top 10s) although I wish Dwight could or will realize they space we can have next year and see that we can get monta and Smith to join him.

We can. We had a big discussion about it and I think Larry Coon even cleared it up.

Top 3 picks win championships. If we don't get a top 3 pick, you're just playing roulette.

i posted this in the other threat but if we get 5 and 8 and the rumored trade with cavs and bobcats is true ( #2 for #4 & #24)
why cant we pull the houston trade and get whatever parts with that then flip #5 and #19 for #2 and rebuild wiht #2 and #8?

Sam Amick
Well, that didn't take long: with Atlanta GM Danny Ferry in his first day on the job, the message is spreading that he'll be looking to shake up the Hawks' roster and rebuild in some capacity. No specifics yet, but forward Josh Smith has tremendous value and an expiring contract (next season at $13.2 million), center Al Horford will be healthy again and is an attractive piece as well (four years, $48 million remaining) and shooting guard Joe Johnson has the sort of deal that any sane GM would try - and likely try in vain - to get rid of (four years and $89.3 million left).

Lots of ifs there. 2 and 8 would be hard for me to turn down if Dwight was uncommitted.

I would take Johnson if it meant getting Smith. PG/Joe/Smith/Ryan/D12

Whom does the bell toll for next? Dwight Howard?

Jameer. I'm guessing it's a conversation along the lines of "By all means opt in, and I'll try to move you somewhere you can play. Or, opt out and best of luck."

Basically, you can't trade consecutive picks in a trade. But now that last year has passed we can do whatever we want with this years pick.

Come to think of it Ryan would be gone in any trade with Atlanta probably, but whatever a core of Smith/D12/Johnson is a contender
