Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
It doesn't matter if offense wasn't meant. If you accidently push someone off a cliff or do it or purpose the effect is the same...
I would expect that the reason he mentioned it was because he actually took offense to that being used as a metaphor - perhaps he had relatives in such a situation. The fact is, we don't know, and as adults we should have respect for that.

I do not know John Vancouver but I am assuming he never intended to make such an offensive comment, but he did and I and simply asked him to see if he could remove it.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
It wasn't offensive, he was describing a feeling. If it is offensive, then so is every movie that shows that scene.
SS, (sorry no pun intended) wouldn't you mean Defcon 1? 5 would mean everything is ok.
I really want to see us make a splash in this draft. I would like to see us listed under teams that did the best in this draft, besides the obvious NO getting Davis.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
It definitely could be taken as offensive. We know the intent, and that he likely didn't mean it, but I've seen people get banned on the General Discussion board for making such comparisons.

When I first read it, I was agasped...but my first thought was, I don't think he really thought about the comparison. We all know it wasn't meant as an insensitive remark, while minimizing the holocaust. He just meant it was painful to Suns' fan. It wasn't offensive per-say (unless he meant it), but it was shocking.
Anyways bad comparision....moving on.

Haha - I actually typed DEFCON.... then sat there trying to remember which was worse, one or five. Yep. Couldn't spend the time to just look it up. Opted for the 50/50 proposition instead.
DEFCON is rather unexciting, however. I recommend that we change our scale to CLUSTERF@#K 1 - 5. As in: "I expect that the Suns draft room will be in CLUSTERF@#K 1 on draft night."

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
It's going to be tough to get an extra pick since we don't really have assets. And since there are owners with significantly deeper pockets, it makes it tougher to buy one.
$3M is like a penny to Mikhail Prokhorov and Paul Allen, and like a nickel to maybe 10 other owners. To Sarver, that's a big chunk of change.

Pistons just dumped Gordon for an expiring contract!!!
Why can't the Suns do this with Childress or Warrick?!

Because Gordon is better than those guys? They also had to give up a future first to do it. Ben Gordon seems like a similar player as Kemba Walker though. Perhaps Jordan just wanted some more UConn championship pedigree there.

Yea they gave up a lottery protected 1st...big ****ing deal.
Their not making the playoffs anytime soon so why the hell wouldn't they trade it?
I have no problem trading our lottery protected 1st next year to dump Childress or Warrick.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
Actually it was a smart move for Charlotte because Gordon could be an expiring too. He has a player option after this next year, and I imagine there is a good chance he might want out of Charlotte.
So they may have just swapped expirings and added a pick. Even if Gordon does pick up his option, he might be a trade asset the following year when he is an expiring.

Yea then might as well keep Childress too since he will be a trade asset 3 years from now when's expiring too right?

He's not making $13M per again. I think he stays. Unless things get really really bad in Charlotte.

If we had to trade away a pick and take back a guy that made just as much money, but had a contract ending one year sooner, I guess it would depend on what player we were taking back.
I don't want to give away any more picks, and you can't lottery protect them forever, or a team won't make the trade.
Also, it all depends on what we were going to use the cap space on. If there were a bunch of stud free agents out there that we could definitely sign by moving Childress, I'd do it, but there really aren't.
And of course I'd rather they just amnesty him anyway if that were the case.
It's weird, it seems like half of the people here want to take on bad contracts to get picks, and others want to trade away bad contracts along with picks (which is surprising) like we did with KT.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
Well it's a good sign that Detriot didn't give up the number nine pick with CV, so we can still make the deal.
