I know I am going to sound stupid, because all of you are on the Lin bandwagon, but I would rather have Kemba. Mark my words five years from now the name Jeremy Lin will be a memory. Why? He will never hold up. He was out with a major injury only months after taking on major minutes. Lin will be one of those players who start out fast, but eventually get slowed to a crawl due to the nba grind.

That's a good point, but at this point in time the majority basketball fans, coaches and gm's would rather have Lin. Kemba has just as much chance of not succeeding as a point guard as Lin does getting hurt.

i was suggesting they take lin purely from a marketing POV. how you can pass up that $? neither player is going to take that team to the finals, so why not cash in on the golden cow while you can.

Hey guys, haven't been able to watch many Bobcat games this season (only the ones against my Sixers) and I was wondering: how has Walker's first season been? Offensively and defensively?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Defensively: Better than expected, really scrappy/pesky.
Offensively: Inconsistent jumper, tends to make more circus shots than good shots, really good at penetrating and finishing but didn't get the veteran calls that will help him later make a living at the FT line.

Shows flashes of solid pg skills and passing ability, inconsistent. Dribbles too much and eats into the shot clock before initiating a play.

I think he'll look like new man with a training camp and a (hopefully) better coaching staff/scheme b/c we're a dysfunctional, poorly coached mess out there and that hurts PGs more than anything. Only guys like Ice Cube can mess around and get a triple double so I think the potential is there.

Yeah, I think we'll see a much different KW next year. He didn't have a training camp during the offseason to refine his game before his rookie season.

as much as I don't expect Kemba to break out, I would be equally as tickled to death if he did

Offensively I thought he would be a better mid-range jumper but it seemed like he shot better from three than he did from within. He still needs to work on being consistent with his jumper. He is a really good finisher for someone his size and manages to not get block often for someone his size as well.

Defensively he has done as much as he can for someone his size. He goes up against more bigger and taller guards but manages to hold his own.

I expected a more consistent year for him but the lockout really hurt the way he played. I wouldn't call next season a break out year but seeing as how he didn't had an off-season his rookie year he should fare better with one this year.

What is likely to happen with your PG situation? Will Augustin/Walker still be in a timeshare?

Will Augustin be traded? Given his QO and another year in Charlotte?

What are your expectations for Walker and his role next year?

Hopefully Walker is putting up 1000 shots a day so that he can be our starter next year. No reason why he can't develop a 17 footer that would make him a pretty good offensive player.

most of us are expecting DJ to move on. many rumors suggest he is looking to get out of charlotte and hopefully sign with another team. i guess it really depends on if he gets any real offers. if not, charlotte would probably pick up his option of 4mil and hang on to him as an asset, since it doesnt appear likely we will need the capspace to go after a big free agent.

Walker is a scorer first, PG second. It (normally) takes guys like that some time to develop true PG skills. He's a speedy guy who can finish well but needs a lot of improvement in both shot selection and his actual shot.

The pro's for Walker is he's aggressive, not afraid to take clutch shots (as he showed in college) and actually a very good rebounder for his size/position.

As for DJ, DJ is a great shooter but not aggressive or a big time leader. He could be a good starting PG for a team with other better options around him or a very good backup PG. He's right on the fringe of starting material really. Stick him on a team like Miami or the Lakers and they become better with him. For a team like Charlotte he does not help us because we need to rely on him too much.

Hopefully they swing a deal to trade DJ this off-season and just bring in a true backup PG so we can let Kemba take over. If we can get a future pick, quality SF, or 2012 first rounder for him I think we'd all be pretty happy as would he and the team acquiring him.

I don't think Walker needs to develop a 17 footer or a 3 or anything like that. I think he just needs to fix the one he has. He can make that shot 5 times in a row and miss it 25 times in a row. he has skills just needs training.

Yeah, I'm hopeful he makes a big improvement this season. He seems to take a lot of shots where he's not set or he's moving to the left or right. Most guys don't make those so if he can be coached properly there's hope. If he fixes a few things he could be a big piece to our long term puzzle.

Did they just say that Kemba Walker had a good statistical season? Did they forget to look at his FG%?

It would be so funny if we trade him on draft night  hell if Chase Budinger went for #18 I wonder what Kemba would net? I know we aren't trading him.
