You are just blind if you think he waived his ETO out of loyalty. if hes loyal, YOU SIGN THE EXTENSION. Game over. He was going to get traded to a place he didnt want. He never had leverage after waiving it. He has become a self centered egotistical character. Its getting worse than LeBron's.....

Dwight: yoooo... This is D-Hooooward
Rob: Hey Dwight. I'm Rob Hennigan. New general manager of the Orlando Magic
Dwight: oh... heeeeey... what's up homie? You're gonna fire me?
Rob: No no, I think I've finished mopping the house. Oh and I'm fine. How are you?
Dwight: I'm good, just trying to get my back in order.
Rob: And how is that going? Are there any complications?
Dwight: Well... nah... just taking time, I guess. It's getting better.
Rob: Good to hear. So, I'd like to talk to you about our current status and what we need to do to move forward.
Dwight: Ok.. Do you want to know if I'm staying or leaving, right?
Rob: Well, I would like you to stay and I think I have it all layed out, how to entice you to stay with the Magic. So far, I'm moving on with things as if you're staying.
Dwight: Oh...
Rob: It's all up to you, but I've put together a plan and already put it in motion, it's getting along and every piece of the puzzle so far seems to be falling in place. I would like to ask what you'd feel about certain moves.
Dwight: What do you have in mind?
Rob: [The young mastermind lays down his world-dominating plan to Dwight, takes a good 2 minutes to explain it like he was explaining it to a 4-year-old. Wonderful, victorious chorus plays in the background as rainbows and pink kittens surround Dwight]
Dwight: wow...
Rob: So, this is my plan, the Magic ownership and upper management have given the green light to put it in action but I wanted to get your feedback on it. I've talked to the teams involved about the moves I've told you about and they are speculating on it and I get the feeling they are really interested. One team has already given us a good sign of going through with it.
Dwight: Woooooow... So, you're serious about this, aren't you?
Rob: I am here to build up and I don't like this team, as currently constructed.
Dwight: hold on hold on... *sound of pen on paper*
Rob: Yes?
Dwight: I'm faxing you my extension. I like you dude!
Rob: Glad to have you on board!
Dwight: YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAH BWOOOOOYYYYYYEEEEE!!!! We could be friends on Xbox!
Rob: My gamertag is RobDaMNGR
Dwight: SWEET!
Rob: The fax just came through, I have it here. That's a good enough start for me to get things rolling. I will personally fly over to LA to get the original signed copy. Keep working on your back and get healed. You'll get a new team before you know it.
Dwight: [Jumping on rainbows and petting the pink kittens, farting confetti]
See, if I can put up a fake phonecall conversation like this, they can do it in realtime too!
Not sure about the rainbows and stuff though.. Kittens can be dyed pink I guess.

@Magicaltheway
I couldn't get back to you on the previous thread, so I'll say it here...
I don't understand that type of logic.
Throughtout the ENTIRE season, even before camp, Dwight Howard ASKED to be traded. And he was adament, the entire time before the trade deadline. So for us to claim that he only waived his ETO because he was told "sign or get traded" doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. If Dwight was traded, to ANY team, he would only had to be there until playoffs were done (he did not have to sign an extension to any team if he did not want to) and become a free agent and therefore free to sign with ANY team he chose to, BUT he decided to waive his ETO giving Orlando 1 more year of his services, if they did not trade him before hand. So, no, it's not natural thing to say that "I was forced to waive my ETO and therefore I'm not signing an extension with the Orlando Magic." When you watch his presser, nothing indicated that he was forced but he looked absolutely relieved. Even in that presser, I believe Otis Smith said that Dwight wanted to sign immediately after he got off the plain but Otis told him to sleep on it and if his feelings were the same, then come back to him, so I'm sorry, I don't understand your logic.
Now, I'm not saying that Dwight doesn't want to be traded because of the things that happened AFTER he signed his ETO with SVG, I'm just saying that that were no indication that Howard was forced to sign an ETO. Even before then he asked Orlando to "roll the dice", Orlando said NO! Dwight then had a decision to make and he decided to waive it.
@ZeusIsLooseYou are just blind if you think he waived his ETO out of loyalty. if hes loyal, YOU SIGN THE EXTENSION. Game over. He was going to get traded to a place he didnt want. ALL Dwight had to do was play with the team he was traded to for a couple of months and then free to sign anywhere he wanted to go. He chose to stay here for an extra year. I'm not blind to anything, I have no reasoning for why he signed his ETO, except for he signed it and giving Orlando 1 more year to build a team around him--if Orlando want to go that route. And if I was Dwight, no way do I sign an extension with the players that are on this team. And us fans wanted half the team traded even before Dwight said anything.
The thing that changed was the situation with SVG.

Anyone who says it's impossible to trade Turk needs to observe this.

Gordon owed $25.6M over next two years. Maggette has one year left at $10.9M, net savings to Pistons of $14.7M.
