Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
dude has to become a better rebounder if we want to count on him as a defensive anchor playing 35 minutes a night. those 5 rebound games arent going to cut it. and he is a pretty awful offensive rebounder as well.

Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
Im hoping for at least 10 rebounds a game this year. I could just about careless for his offense, as any offense of his that he contributes is a place. 9.5 to 10 rebounds a game with 2-2.5 blocks per game and I would be pretty ecstatic.

Biz should be shooting 1000 mid range jumpers a day. If he is it will def begin to show.

OT: how many jumpers do you think you could get up in a day before your arm turned to jello? i am pretty sure that after about 300 it would feel like chinese water torture for me.

Depends. If I did it in two sessions, one early morning and one around 5 pm it's be easier.

Dude needs teammates that box out and don't let their men by them all game.

In high school, we'd probably land around the 400-500 range on a typical day. About once a week (twice in the summer) we'd have drills days, where we'd get up about 1000 (increments of 100).
When I go to the gym now and there aren't enough people to run a full game, I'll go for about 250 or so.

Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
i played last night and between the warm-ups waiting for people to show up and 5 games to 11 i maybe got up a total of 50 shots.
last time i got that many shots up was back in college when my friends put up a goal in our parking lot. that summer i stayed up at school rather than going home and i only had one class (and no job). so yeah, i pretty much shot baskets for 5 hours a day that summer. my jumper was automatic that summer. sadly, the goal was only 9'6". if i played on a regular goal i was captain front-rim. it took me about 3 years to get my range back on a 10 foot goal. moral of the story, don't let your drunk friends put up a 9'6" goal in your driveway or parking lot. (and yes i could dunk on a 9'6" goal with a deflated ball)
i also got a stress fracture that summer in my right leg because i shot barefoot all summer and i had a nasty blister on my left foot, so i overcompensated by always landing on my right foot. i still feel that knot in my shin where the stress fracture was. moral of the story, don't be a dirty hippie and shoot baskets all summer in your bare feet. put on shoes.

Well to his credit in 35mpg he does average 9.1rpg. To be honest I expected worse because since he's a shot blocker he'll always go for the block instead of trying to find a man to box out so his chances of grabbing rebounds lessens. But indeed it doesn't mean he can't stop improving. His technique for boxing his man out is pretty awful, and he'll have more of an advantage of grabbing rebounds if he boxed out rather than fight for rebounds in spite of his measurements and athleticism because of his strong thighs and base.

Serge Ibaka 2.0?
I honestly expected more in terms of rebounding. With a 7'7 wingspan, any game where he grabs less than five or six rebounds should be considered a disappointment. Though to be fair, he's 19 and has many years to improve his techniques.

That's pretty cool. I love when players hang out and we can see them doing normal stuff.

Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
i remember reading and article a while back about biz where it talked about how eager he was to see everything in charlotte. it said that he is at the arena for basically every event as well as going to other stuff in charlotte such as the nascar race. i think biz is just one of those people who loves life. it probably wouldnt matter if it was coldplay, tim mcgraw, kanye or metallica, biz would probably be in the audience having a blast. maybe i can convince him to come see phish this summer.
can you imagine biz walking around the parking lot at phish checking out all the dirty hippies selling veggie buritos, glass bowls, tshirts, hula hoops and everything else. that would be hilarious.

Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
If Biz likes Coldplay, he'll never average double digit rebounds.
