They did get a game changing rebounder in Brockman

Wait, there's more?.....we get a 2nd too? Well done Hammond, well done
Wonder if Morey was smart enough to top 45 protect it like Hammond did in the Dooling deal?

I described him earlier today as a classic 7' plodding white center, in a 6'7" body.

We are in the same boat. If Lamb drops to us, this draft would be a home run in my eyes.

Great job by Hammond cleaning up Larry Harris's Livingston, Brockman and Leuer blunders.

QFT
But I will wait until I see what we do tomorrow night.
We won this trade on the technical merits IMO but it isn't enough to change our course of mediocrity.
Its really is another side step. This trade really does nothing as far as going from a late lotto team- 8th seed to a contender. People who think this improves the Bucks is off their rocker.

To be successful you have to be able to make small moves as well as big ones. This was a successful small move. We moved down in the draft in a range where we are likely to get the same guy we would have drafted before, we dumped a bunch of bench bodies, and we dumped salary. The only real loss was Leuer, and he was a potential role player on a team full of role players.

Re: #12, Brockman, Leuer, SL for #14, Dalembert
Again, value wise it's a good deal. It also means we no longer having the distinction of carrying the worst player in the NBA on the roster.
But, I've taken a step back from the initial "we picked up a starting center for two draft slots" reaction and I'm looking at it as a whole and what it means for the team this year, and I'm face palming. I swear since Hammond has graced us with his presence, every season and offseason is a repeat. We pick up some midrange talent and on the surface look improved, so a little bit of faith gets restored in good ol Brick Tambland. Then the season begins. We teeter around the 8th seed til the deadline, have a few potentially attractive pieces, and refuse to move them so we can take that ninth spot in a blaze of glory. Repeat offseason.
So guys, don't hate on the people who dislike the trade. They're not thinking about today and tomorrow, they're drawing off of sensory memory, and what it's going to be like in February when theyre stuck in that familiar misery due to mediocrity. They're not haters. They're visionaries.
It's been beaten to death but it doesn't make it not worth mentioning. Someone stated it perfectly earlier in the thread, that Daly's value around the league was due to his buyout, and we are choosing to acquire value and squander for ourselves. It's such a Milwaukee Bucks thing to do. We all know at this point they should waive Dalembert, trade Monta, amnesty Gooden, trade perceived value at its hichest point (Dunleavy), and draft for high upside. It seems so simple yet we all know it's out of reach.
I'm starting to get off track from my main point, which is, think of this trade and what it means to Milwaukee during the season, and how you'll feel about it next offseason, when we've gone through another year of Monta and Jennings, Gooden getting 30 minutes a game, and our small supply of young assets being squandered on the bench, while Daly and Dunleavy have "helped" the team to just enough wins to have the honor of picking 10-14 again.
I don't like the trade. This would be a perfect trade for a team like Indiana, or Philly. Not saying Dalembert fit wise, just in picking up a great role player for little value, for a team on the brink. We are not on the brink and won't be under Hammond/Kohl. Ever.

Dalembert has been very healthy in his recent career, that will change I'm sure.
Hunt is way ahead of you em.

My source indicates we could have had Llull instead of the future 2nd, but palindromes turn Hammond's stomach.

We could have just done a 2nd and cash for Brockman?
We got robbed.

Gotta keep hope alive, man. The team has been effectively un-watchable for a long time. If he can get rid of Ellis, amnesty Gooden, trade into the top 10 with players, and we dump Dalember during the season, then I would say he has been successful in moving one direction positively.

What assets do the Bucks have to make big moves? I think they blew their last shot with the bungled Bogut trade. I think all they have left now is to make smaller type deals. If people are being critical because this trade doesn't have the "wow" factor (and I agree it doesn't) I'd be interested to hear what realistic trades you think can be made with what the Bucks have that will land them a star or a "wow" type talent. And again, it's important to keep in mind that the goal is to make the playoffs and it appears at the present time neither Jennings nor Ellis are going to be made available.

Nice post Jake.
No problem with having hope and keeping the faith, but I don't think any of those things are on the docket. Maybe 1 if we're lucky.

I'm hopeful that we are still trying to trade up in the draft for a player who would have all star potential.
Moving back two spots shouldn't make any of the other scenarios we were looking at null and void. Rather, having Daly gives us more flexibility in terms of not needing to plan to acquire a center some other way.
