How so? Would Darvish make Romero not suck and somehow prevent injuries to Morrow, Santos, Drabek, etc?
Yeah, I wanted Darvish as much as anybody, but this statement is ridiculous. You add Darvish + Fielder to this team, and we're still nowhere near competing.

Well If we had Darvish one of our young players wouldnt be playing for us. Most likely Drew Hutchinson so one injury could of been avoided. AA would have a guy like Drew Hutchinson to call up and Cecil as well. He then could of gone and purchased another starting pitcher to fill a the 3r spot but now nothing can be done. He went with a young pitching staff instead of shelling out some money for some proven starters and now the jays are paying the price.

We were in the playoff race before all the injuries happened and we have no depth. A guy like Yu Darvish would of been great for depth, we could of kept one of Alvarez,Drabek or Hutchinson in the minors. Go out and acquire one more starting pitcher at the dead line. But now nothing can be down we are just watching a sinking ship. Our offene is elite and our pitching is the worst with no depth because we played all of our young players in the majors.
You guys have to admit the jays are paying the price for being too cheap during the offseason. We have some great offensive players on this team and some capable pitchers. We should of acquired a few more players in the offseason instead of wasting another year of Bautista's prime. His batting average isnt all that good but hes on pace for 50hr.EE is on pace for 40+ hr, Lawrie and Rasmus have been great at 1,2 in the batting order.
Maybe competing with Yankees was a little too big of statement by me but i still think we would of been in the playoff race right now , wildcard at the very least. Our offense has a chance to be elite if AA acquires another strong bat. Not so many teams can say that. Too bad our pitching staff is the worst right now

We'd be marginally better, thats it. You are over-extending big time; 1 pitcher wouldn't have put this team in contention with a team that is 17 games over .500, that is simply ridiculous. Its not like Darvish has been amazing either, he's been good but hardly season-changing. He's got a 3.68 FIP and he's walking 4.70 per 9 innings.

We were in playoff "contention" while guys like Alvarez and Drabek were holding completely unsustainable ERA's. Everyone knew that those guys were going to fall back to earth regardless of whether they got hurt or not, and they did. Drabek was starting to struggle hard before he blew out his elbow and Alvarez has been bad for numerous starts before he got hurt in his last one.

My point is if we had a guy like Darvish, we would still have a young pitcher like Hutchinson to bring up because he would be playing in the minors. I know the jays would still be shorthanded but Darvish would of helped big time, AA could then make anothe move to acquire some pitching help. But now he cant do anything, our young players are injured. We dont have an ace right now with Romero struggling and Morrow out. Hes basically handcuffed and it sucks because we have a pretty good offense.

it's very encouraging that Morrow is already throwing again, back by mid-July maybe?

So Pauley comes in yesterday, and Perez throws 2 meaningless innings today? Sounds like Farrell to me.

What the hell Ricky. This is now officially a bad season for him.
