I heard that the Clips were trying to get Lamar Odom from the Mavs but need to move Mo Williams to do it. Williams is in his last season on is contract so what about this:

Pacers send Collison, D. Jones
Pacers get #17 pick from dallas Trey Thompkins, and Mo plus $3 million

Dallas gives Larmar Odom
Dallas gets Collison and Jones

LA Clips get Odom
LA Clips give Mo Williams and Trey Thomkins.

I want nothing to do with Mo Williams. Honestly, he's not an upgrade from Darren Collison, at all.

Either way, Dallas wants no salary in return for Odom. This would increase their salary as they can waive Odom for only $2.4 million, while Dahntay is owed $2.9 million and Collison $2+ million. This would put them in a position where they couldn't offer Deron Williams a max contract. Thus, this isn't even a possibility that Dallas would entertain.

GS was rumored to be interested in Chandler for the 7th overall pick.

Houston believes Lowry is worth the 5th pick.

Based off the above info, we should be able to ask for a late-lottery pick with a straight face.

Scoot, do you think Collison for pick 17 straight up is about the right value?

It has good value to us, but it doesn't suit Dallas' needs. They are looking to cut salary. Thus, moving Odom (and his $2.4 million buyout), Vince Carter (and his $2 million buyout each of the next 2 years or $6.3 million salary over the next 2 years), and possibly Kelenna Azubuike (and his $1.07 million guaranteed salary) while using only Roddy Beaubois, Dominique Jones, and possibly the #17 as incentive. I would imagine they would want FUTURE picks in return as that would give them pieces that would NOT have cap holds (limiting their ability to make a max offer to Deron Williams.

Adding a Darren Collison and his $2 million salary is not exactly what they're looking to do before free agency.

GS is likely looking to move Biedrins' or Richard Jefferson's contract in the deal as well. They'll likely also swap Dorrell Wright for either Koufos or Mozgov. That deal will ultimately look something like #7/Biedrins/Wright for #20/Chandler/Mozgov. Not a bad deal for either team, if you ask me, and not massive value for Chandler either.

Lowry is possibly worth the #5, but more likely closer to the #8 at Toronto. He's on a great contract and is a very solid young starting PG at both ends of the court.

I'd say Darren could land us a spot at #19 with Orlando, or possibly Atlanta at #23. However, the range Collison would net all has teams that are set at PG. If we were looking at something else like dumping Dahntay Jones and Jeff Pendergraph in the deal, I could see Chicago at #29 with us getting back Ronnie Brewer (fully non-guaranteed) or Kyle Korver (only $5 million guarantee). That would make us MAJOR players in free agency.

Add in the #26 with Collison and maybe you could get as high as 13 or 14. However, I doubt it. I just don't agree with Chad Forde that Collison holds that much value right now.

Mainly what I was trying to do was get the #17 getting Mo was not a priority, I can see that you are right about the Mavs objectives. What if we move a 2nd this yr and maybe next yrs to Dallas for the #17 and Odom then buy him out ourselves so he can go to the clips on his own.

I'm really liking Kendall Marshall, I don't know much about this Fab Melo guy.

What do you think about trying to get a top 10 pick what would it take I keep hearing that the Bobs might move down and Sacto's pick is mentioned a lot in trades.

We don't have a 2nd this year. Dallas is looking to not want to include the #17 to dump Odom's $2.4 million. It'd be about fair market value, though, for them to give up the #17 to dump Odom.

Top 10 pick? We'd have to move Granger or George, at the least. Roy and George Hill could help as well, but since their free agents, can't be moved for draft picks in this draft. I can't see a platter of Collison, Hansbrough, and the #26 (our next most valuable pieces) getting us up that high.

Fiscally, we could make a cap suicide deal.....Hansbrough, Collison, #26 for Tyrus Thomas, Ben Gordon, and the #2 pick. That's a ton of salary to swallow, but you could add a premiere wing like Beal or MKG long-term. I still don't see Charlotte willing to move that far down when they're going to have trouble hitting the salary minimum without one or two of those deals. They just don't have cap issues, but rather, talent issues.

Portland is keeping Batum, and is in the middle of a rebuild. I can't imagine they want to give up their fresh rebuild pieces and add Granger just to make Batum superfluous. Portland and Indy just aren't a match right now. Collison may be helpful there, but they'd probably only give up their two 2nd rounders in the early part of the 2nd.

Memphis gave up Lowry for a 1st round pick. He's been with Houston for several years now and Houston matched an offer sheet Lowry signed with Cleveland.

He's not an amazing player by any means, but he's a very good defensive PG, and a very good offensive PG. He's very balanced. Will never be an all-star but will always be very good.
