I know, it's kinda weird where people get these ideas.

Battier wouldn't last an entire season playing PF, he would be like Miller.

Oden said he's taking 1 to 2 years off...he isn't gonna be playing for a long time.

What are you hearing about the HEAT’S free agency plans? Do you see any players falling in the draft that may be able to help the HEAT?

Ray Allen is all but gift wrapped. Greg Oden is likely headed there. We’ll see what guys take minimum deals for a chance at a chip.

wow..I know Oden has dealt with injuries but could be low risk high regard for further down the road

As recently as May, Oden's agent said he had interest in signing here. While he probably won't play for quite some time, we'd be wise to invest in him and see if he can become a serviceable center down the road.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball- ... 37628.html

There's a 24-year-old free agent center who's affordable, has impressive career rebounding averages and has interest in playing for the Heat eventually once he recovers from his latest knee surgery, according to his agent. The only problem? It's a very big one: He's not healthy and can't seem to stay healthy.

Greg Oden, 7-0, hasn't played since 2009-10 and is recovering from his fifth knee surgery in five seasons. A Grantland.com story said that "right now" Oden's plan is to take next season off to rehab, then come back in 2013-14. But his agent, Mike Conley Sr., told us Oden is positioned be ready to play in December or January "as far as being effective and in shape" and will explore options in the coming months, with the possibility of joining a team next season. But nobody obviously can know for sure when he will be ready.

The Heat hasn't called but "Greg has talked about Miami," Conley said. "He has interest. He's not retiring." Oden, the No. 1 pick in the 2007 draft, has played just 82 career games for Portland (which released him in March) and averaged 9.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks.

Whether the Heat takes a flyer on Oden or not — and Miami has nothing to lose, really, if or when they ever deem him healthy - the bigger question is this: With limited financial resources, can Pat Riley significantly upgrade at center during the Big Three era?

How would you guys feel about Jordan Hill? I saw this post on the official HEAT forums:

http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/lak ... -in-return
"Right at the top of the Lakers' to-do list come July 1 is to engage Hill in contract negotiations, a source familiar with the team's thinking told ESPNLosAngeles.com. Even though Hill is unrestricted and the Lakers are over the luxury tax for next season, the Lakers hold partial Bird rights to him and can offer Hill a maximum of $3,632,450 a season for up to five years. ESPN.com"

If I'm Miami I would be all over this. The Lakers can only offer him 3.6 mil per year. Miami could offer him the mini-MLE for 3 mil per year with no state tax and to sweeten the deal they could offer him a starting position. I'm just saying....

It's sad that this is how low we have to go for centers- Kwame Brown et al, but we gotta make do.

Who are the centers on the market right now as unrestricted free agents?

Sam Bowie 2.0

I'm not totally writing Greg off,but with the way things are trending,it probably would be best if he went ahead and retired.

I don't think the Heat are that desperate,to offer the mini minimum league exception to a scrub like Jordan Hill.

My dream is to build a team here in Miami with this core similar to the Spurs team last season. They were so deep, that they rested their stars the whole season then came out firing in the playoffs. The fun part is, our stars are still young! You know the saying (at this time of the season, no one is healthy). Well if we had a deep team, we would enter the playoffs young, healthy, rested, and ready to ball. Ray Allen, Lamar Odom, and Greg Oden would help us do that.

Chalmers/Cole
Wade/Ray Allen
LeBron/Battier
Bosh/Haslem
Turiaf/Oden

Ray Allen passes the smell test but those other two arent coming. Need some young banger who are actual C's. Or a Vet C/ PF type for a small one year deal only.

I think he meant that the Big 3 would be healthy and rested. That's the most important thing.

Getting Jordan Hill would be great for several reasons. The best reason is that if we were to win a ring with him, we'd have another "New York, U MAD?" picture

We don't have to cut curry. We just don't have to resign him.

And **** no. Why would we amnesty miller before he retires? Let him retire; amnestying him would do nothing for us

It's good going into the draft as Champs isn't it? Knowing you'll only get better especially when you consider who Riley is going to woo in FA also

Miami will go hard after Ray Allen, but if Lamar Odom gets bought out expect the Heat to pursue him, too

That's what i was saying, why is it not feasable we could get both? It is IMO
