If we want to add an elite athlete and wing defende, we could trade down again and get this guy.

I don't think the AST/TO ratio difference is that great. I'm seeing 1.8/1.7 for Jones, and 1.6/2.3 for Ross under the same minutes. Jones was likely longer (as Ross has a pretty pedestrian wingspan) and likely the better defender. Blocks was 1.3 to 1.1 also, FWIW, minutes adjusted. I think Ross was near the top of blocks per 40 pace adjusted for SG's.

Brian (Milwaukee)

Please tell me why the Bucks trade makes sense? Do they think Zeller is going to be there at 14 and wanted to pick up another body? Just dont like the trade at all.

John Hollinger

They got a starting center and now don't have to reach for a center in the draft. I think they like the wing guys better (Lamb, Ross, etc) and now that the frontcourt is stocked they can take one of them, and then they're covered if Delfino walks.

Good news here and I do think one of them will be there at 14. Probably Ross, I think Rivers goes top 10 and Lamb somewhere before us.

Honestly I think is a great comparison for Ross.

I like Ross more than Taylor. They have a lot of similarities (short wingspan, great leapers, good shooters), but Ross played Taylor to essentially a draw this last season while being nearly 21 months younger.

The Bucks are giving "serious consideration" to Kentucky F Terrence Jones with the No. 14 pick.
Jones recently worked out for the Bucks and the team is known to be intrigued with his combination of size and athleticism. Jones is projected to be selected somewhere in the teens, though it's not certain exactly where he'll ultimately land.

Sounds great. Glad that's who the Bucks are looking at. But all three could be gone by 14.

I'm good with Jones from a pure value/upside standpoint. It does likely mean Ilyasova is gone and we are really thin at the wing, but if they view him as the best upside guy, so be it.

My thing is he will just be put in the mix with our other PF's and just get lost. Eh. Our sf and sg position would be more attractive to put a Ross or lamb behind. I nderstand lamb is sg but I'd put him at sf with bj and monta.

We'll see. I'd rather see what he does at UCLA before making final determinations on him. From all accounts he's working hard on improving his game and will likely be a strong player in the NBA. I'd bet he's a better NBA player than Ross is.

I never said anything about Ross being better, because he won't be. But shabazz isn't some franchise saving guy. He's not on kyrie's level as a prospect for example. I also don't think he's going to be better than rivers or beal.

The guy everyone should want next year is Alex Poythress. He's like a much richer mans Terrence jones I guess you'd say.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Pipe dream though. I can't tell you how happy I would be to swing gooden, rivers for 21 and 22 overall if we were able to get rivers. Oh boy. I love pipe dreams.

Yeah , Shabazz, hell be a more assertive Demar DeRozan, which IMO could be great.

Teams gauging Ohio State's Jared Sullinger believe he won't be selected before No. 20. Despite back problems, there's interest in 1st round.

I'm almost on the Sullinger bandwagon at #14.

Hey guys. First time poster here, but I'm a big Bucks fan from Upstate NY.

My thoughts on our draft candidates:

First, I'd like Zeller if he's still there at 14. I think he'll be an above average starting center in the NBA, and he could start right away for us and fit in very well with Monta and Jennings.

If he's gone, I want Jeremy Lamb, Terrence Ross, PJIII, or Meyers Leonard.

Lamb reminds me of Rip Hamilton. He's already very effective coming off screens, and he has the potential to be a #2 or #3 scorer on a winning team in my opinion.

Ross reminds me of a taller Aaron Afflalo in that he can be a good spot-up shooter and a good defender. I think very highly of Afflalo, so Ross is an attractive candidate.

PJIII has some Lamar Odom in him. He's a great ball-handler for his size, and he's a rare guy in the sense that he can affect the game in a lot of ways without necessarily scoring.

Leonard is more viable for me now than he was before our trade for Dalembert, because I think he'll need time to mold his game, and learning from a consummate professional like Dalembert would do wonders for him in my opinion.

Lastly, I do not want to go anywhere near Terrence Jones. Breaking down his film, he just doesn't play like an NBA player. Defensively, he's very attractive because he can likely defend SFs and PFs and he can protect the rim a bit. However, offensively, he's near worthless in my opinion. Statistically, he was one of the worst finishers around the rim at the PF position in this year's draft. This is shockingly bad because he had such a huge length and strength advantage compared to his competition this year. He's too sloppy a ball-handler to play SF in the NBA, and he has no right hand whatsoever. He almost solely goes left. And when he tries to attack, he doesn't really have any moves. He just tries to shoot THROUGH his defender, which will absolutely not fly in the NBA. Even the Kentucky fans that I've talked to have said that Jones plays like somebody that never learned how to play basketball, but just always got by because he's bigger and stronger than his opponent. I think Jones is the most likely player in the lottery to be a bust.
