Funny how many fans and pseudo-insiders misread the rule about trading first round picks... You can trade your first round pick every year if you want to. You just can't trade yourself out of future firsts in consecutive years. It never matters what you did with last year's pick.

You can trade as many of your own firsts as you like as long as you retain some 1st for some team at least every other year. The rule was put in place to keep short-sighted owners from ruining their teams indefinitely in one transaction.

So Orlando is perfectly free to trade it's pick for any reason. But I think most of us want to see an actual selection tonight, right?

I was told that the new CBA has changed it. So we have to make the pick but we can trade the rights to the player

I know i do. I think this is one of those drafts where you get a lot of good star level players not necessarily all stars or game changers outside of Davis but good players you can put around a star.

I think most of us want to see Duhon or Hedo packaged with that pick via trade.

Hopefully Jameer opts in, another trade asset.

agreed, everyone was complaining about needing a pass first pg and they want rivers to play the point....god none of our other players would see the ball. Sg fine although imo he'll be a bust, but i cant see him running an offense. [/quote]

Rivers total attempts per36 compared to all the draftable PG's in this draft. Im sure you wouldn't complain about how many shots Lillard, Wroten, Taylor would take though huh? And keep in mind Rivers (and Brown) were the only guys actually playing scoring guard in college here.

Tony Wroten total attempts per 36: 19.13
J'Covan Brown total attempts per36: 18.28
Damian Lillard total attempts per 36: 16.23
Austin Rivers total attempts per36: 15.33
Tyshawn Taylor total attempts per36: 14.59
Tu Holloway total attempts per36: 14.37
Scott Machado total attempts per36: 11.28
Marquis Teague total attempts per36: 11.17
Kendall Marshall total attempts per36: 8.21

MTB, do you have the option of going to "browser mode" to see what page we're officially on. B/c on tapatalk, I'm at page 100.

Yeah, I can. Don't worry man, I got this :)

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it here. The new Hawks GM is looking to break up that team and they have 2 bad contracts in Marvin Williams and Joe Johnson. We're one of the few teams willing to take back one of those bad contracts with Josh Smith to make a deal. Acquiring Smoove and either Williams or Johnson isn't out of the question for our team imo.

A little bit about Rivers from someone who watched every game of his in college. I am a huge Duke fan (mom went there).

* Rivers played sg in college
* He was very unselfish and played outside his comfort zone to be more of a facilitator
* Coach K and Duke's system does not reward or showcase outstanding iso players.
* Austin Rivers is not a pg. He is a sg. He has great handles and is an above average passer. But his strengths are creating for himself and getting to the basket and free throw line.
* He is about 6'3" and is not an exception athlete but above average, but he is an under rated defender.
* He will be a very good off guard at the pro level. He might make an All Star game or two. But he is definitely not a pg.

He is a better overall basketball player then Steph Curry.....who is also not a pg, no matter how bad the Warriors want him to be.

That is my opinion on Rivers

Teams rarely trade within their division. And I'm sure if the only thing the Hawks required were to take back Marvin Williams, they can get better offers from a handful of teams than a 5ppg playoff performer + a fill in.

Earl Clark has opted out of the final year of his contract with the Orlando Magic, sources confirm. He'll be an unrestricted free agent.

It all depends on the market for Smith+Williams or Smith+Johnson. I'm not sure it's as large as the one for just Smith.

Earl seems to have a lot of potential, but not sure he will ever reach it.

Whether that was SVG holding him back or not we shall see. Best of luck Earl.

He may be brought back. I doubt he will be, but he might have just wanted to secure a long term deal. Orlando can still give that to him

I really only care about how players match up on defense... so either he (or a monta) on our team plays pg in my mind. The ball needs to be in his or dwights hands... with an occasional dish to a shooter to keep the floor spread. Our offense does not need to be super creative to be effective if you have 2 dominant offensive players.
