re: Pierce's trade value-
He could absolutely get you a lottery pick, but probably a bad contract, too.. I could see Pierce to Toronto for Calderon and #8, if someone they like drops that far. Or Pierce to POR for Wes Matthews and 6- one of those deals, along with Rondo for 2, Rondo for Evans/5 or Rondo for 6/11, if we drafted right, is an instant rebuild. Would love to shock everybody and get Robinson with the second pick in a Rondo trade, Barnes and Drummond with POR's 6/11 in a Pierce trade.

Completely disagree. Any team that gets Paul Pierce that's in the lottery knows that they will be getting a player that doesn't want to be there. They wouldn't get his full effort and he would probably try to work out a buyout ASAP to go to a contender.
Simply not going to happen.

I will shoot myself if we end up with Nicolson and Melo. Nicolson has Rafael Arujo written all over him and Melo is the second coming of Thabeet.

Lol that was some real pitiful stuff. I remember thinking he was legit after a few things he said got picked up in the media (think it had something to do with Rashard Lewis if I recall), but the TA and Gomes stuff was the death knell.

Loyalty to pierce? Nope they almost traded him to the nets last season, ainge has no heart. None of you have legit sources unless you actually know people in the war room right now. My dad has a suite for every Celtic game you get to meet a lot of interesting people having in a suite. And unless you know A scout or Danny ainge or rivers right now your sources Arnt legit. Trust me ive tried for a couple years to just ask trainers, celtics media personal and I have not found a source.

he has all but said himself after initially leaving things open ended and letting imaginations wander that all he did was meet doc rivers and he has no info at all about the actual plans of the celtics
that is why imo this thread is dead
I didn't say that I didn't have any information, I said I wasn't going to share anything. I was just agreeing with ddb to pretty much kill the mood. Also it looks as if ddb was starting to become a hater so I backed off.
What did you gain from telling us that? The satisfaction of knowing something we don't and telling us about it? Honestly, I don't get why you would even say anything if you don't wish to share any information you got from him.
I sort of believe you, but for gods sakes, if you're not Docs nephew or his close friend, why would you really care?

I don't think Frank meant any harm. He just got really excited about all this and thought he had something more that we didn't know that he couldn't wait to share. It's not like he strung us a long for a long time. He quickly deemed his information just as fodder after we were all getting so excited.

Where did he say that? Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see him admit that he made a mistake or misspoke.

I'd say these two posts show that Lucas wasn't doing this to get the board riled up, he was just really excited and spit out info.

It's actually not as hard as it sounds. My best friend is in a situation where he can text Mike Aud or Zarren at any moment...they will both definitely be in the war room.
All you need to be is a friend of a friend and it can spread quickly.

So that would mean teams aren't being aggresive about persuing Pierce then. So that would then indicate Danny's floating this out there via Amick to get Pierce's name out there.
Such a great time of year.

Toronto, Portland, Golden State, even Cleveland and Washington could plausibly make the playoffs next year, depending on how their off-seasons develop.

Yeah maybe the taking back of a salary thing could work but I'm not seeing a single team that would deem this worthwhile for a lottery team. Pierce has 2 more years left on his deal. So you can take a lottery level talent who is 20 years old, save no money overall by dumping RJ or Biedrins on us (in fact pay more), and then have nothing in 3 seasons when you could have just stood pat, paid your dues for your dumb signing/trade, enjoy your lottery pick on his rookie scale deal, and then have Harrison Barnes for the next 12 seasons.

Well, Pierce is only guaranteed $5 mil for 13/14, so there's that. Just a much better asset than Biedrins/Jefferson.
But there's also the angle that you'd much rather get borderline all-star production out of your SF investment than wait for a young guy to develop while paying the likes of RJ and/or Beans a combined $20 mil.
We made similar moves to get rid of Raef and Wally (getting flexibility for the former and veteran star production for the latter).
