Whether that was SVG holding him back or not we shall see. Best of luck Earl.

He may be brought back. I doubt he will be, but he might have just wanted to secure a long term deal. Orlando can still give that to him

Yea but I will not be heartbroken if they go their separte ways.

* Rivers played sg in college
* He was very unselfish and played outside his comfort zone to be more of a facilitator
* Coach K and Duke's system does not reward or showcase outstanding iso players.
* Austin Rivers is not a pg. He is a sg. He has great handles and is an above average passer. But his strengths are creating for himself and getting to the basket and free throw line.
* He is about 6'3" and is not an exception athlete but above average, but he is an under rated defender.
* He will be a very good off guard at the pro level. He might make an All Star game or two. But he is definitely not a pg.

He is a better overall basketball player then Steph Curry.....who is also not a pg, no matter how bad the Warriors want him to be.

That is my opinion on Rivers

I really only care about how players match up on defense... so either he (or a monta) on our team plays pg in my mind. The ball needs to be in his or dwights hands... with an occasional dish to a shooter to keep the floor spread. Our offense does not need to be super creative to be effective if you have 2 dominant offensive players.

Which offense do we have currently? (in another words, we don't have a coach, therefore we have no offense in place atm).

Earl's career will take off to the first team that gives him a chance.

I think his decision was based on what the Magic would do with Ryno. Since we made our QO to him, I think Earl decided he needed to go. Too bad. He was a good fit for us.

Ryno will probably leave via trade too. I guess Justin Harper is happy right about now.

agreed, everyone was complaining about needing a pass first pg and they want rivers to play the point....god none of our other players would see the ball. Sg fine although imo he'll be a bust, but i cant see him running an offense.

Rivers total attempts per36 compared to all the draftable PG's in this draft. Im sure you wouldn't complain about how many shots Lillard, Wroten, Taylor would take though huh? And keep in mind Rivers (and Brown) were the only guys actually playing scoring guard in college here.

Tony Wroten total attempts per 36: 19.13
J'Covan Brown total attempts per36: 18.28
Damian Lillard total attempts per 36: 16.23
Austin Rivers total attempts per36: 15.33
Tyshawn Taylor total attempts per36: 14.59
Tu Holloway total attempts per36: 14.37
Scott Machado total attempts per36: 11.28
Marquis Teague total attempts per36: 11.17
Kendall Marshall total attempts per36: 8.21[/quote]

No I wouldnt complain about how many shots lillard, taylor , or Jones take. if It's not so much the scoring I'm personally worried about. I'm a jameer fan for christs sake. His shot attempts don't change my opinion about his inability to run an offense. My point mainly was about the amount of people wanting a pass first pg then slotting rivers as our starting pg.

It's like wanting a better 3pt shooter at the 3 then putting earl Clark there. as a scorer im fine with him but dont expect much playmaking. His shot attempts doesn't mean he he'd make a good starting pg in the NBA.

I think offense is dictated by players. All I'm saying is we could get by just fine without a prototypical passing pg (which doesn't even seem to be the prototype anymore).

Better than Curry? I've seen only a few of his games, but nothing indicates that he's even close to a healthy Curry.

I agree. Earl was a good fit and just needed a chance to play without looking over his shoulder.

I'll cheer for him wherever he lands.

If Utah gets Mo Gotti, that'll take them out the chase for Jameer.
