I'll play along too, I'd like to see others' predictions too and find out who is the realgm draft guru
Who I want us to draft #19: Quincy Miller Who I think we will draft #19: Tony Wroten Jr
Who I want us to draft #49: Tyshawn Taylor
Who I think we will draft #49: Henry SimsCall me happy with either one of Miller or Wroten but as the draft goes on live thru 1-18 and as GM Hennigan's thinking goes..
I'm calling that some of these good PF's will be off the board anyways to eliminate a hard(er) thinking debate. And I know the Magic worked out Wroten and someone even said he looked very good in ORL (I know Hennigan fired most of these workouts-arranging scouts but one scout remains who Hennigan must therefore respect and that ORL workout/info is clearly still there to supplement Hennigan's profile/big board).
For a little surprise twist, I also think GM Hennigan trade-buys a late
#28 from OKC for
Quincy Miller who has too much upside and would seem to be, with Wroten, Spurs-like late drafting. Hey, if we're predicting in a draft this deep, I might as well stretch my guess-work anyways.
So basically, I'm arrogant/confident and think Hennigan and me pick the same players haha. The difference is I see Hennigan going Wroten before Miller, unlike me, because he's gambling smarter and is looking at avg mock draft positions and that the Hawks might grab Wroten at 23 if not taken yet. If Im picking, I split the difference because Miller is a must at 19 to me, but I would buy/trade for 23 anyways to get Wroten by any means necessary, probably offering up 28, cash and a future second unprotected to be as enough for getting a deal done. I think Hennigan wanting a player developing coach will get these draft picks into Spurs-like draft steals, maybe Brian Shaw who won't use the triangle but a free(-er) offense type system.
For the 2nd round, Henry Sims is what Hennigan goes with at #49 because the rest of the huge upside players are gone, including Tyshawn Taylor (who'd Hennigan and me would both take if on the board still). Sims maybe doesn't make the cut, but if he does, then Duhon is waived for roster space.
**I'm going to be stretching reality here a little bit now... but... if Hennigan plays the draft up like crazy because its so deep and he loves players around the 30th pick, or he's just like POR/OKC in crazy draft trading, then I see Hennigan grabbing Tyshawn Taylor around ~28-44 as a back-up plan to Wroten gone or even as a damn-the-PG-glut-to-hell-anyways. Tyshawn Taylor looks amazing, doesn't seem to quite have Wroten's better NBA body and potential but both seem to be racing towards who gets more development help from their NBA team than one being a steal and one being a bust, they're both steals with help. They both seem to have Rondo-Lite qualities, but Wroten a little moreso. As for why I'd pick two PG's, I think we all know Duhon sucks as the main backup PG, and Jameer leaving might be out of Hennigan's hands too. The other possibility (that I'll SMH on if Hennigan drafts him because I almost put him in at 28) is Jeff Taylor though, who seems NBA ready, team first attitude and a CLee 2.0. And I'd get him over all of Tyshawn's upside if I was confident in Jameer staying since a Wroten/Jameer rotation seems golden.
