A. Sherrod Blakely: #CelticsTalk: The #Celtics exploring a ton of options leading up to tonight's #NBA draft, including another run at #Grizzlies SG O.J. Mayo.

A. Sherrod Blakely: #CelticsTalk: #NBA source says any deal involving #Hawks Josh Smith would most likely include sign-and-trade w/Brandon Bass.

Don't know how these players have anything to do with the draft since both are free agents.

Blakely always gives me the impression that he just is barely keeping things together. Definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed.

His NBA source is probably just going off the dearth of movable contracts on the C's roster and postulating Bass.

But those deals can't even happen until after July 1... right?

With Bass being an unrestricted FA it gets pretty complicated trying to complete an S&T because Bass has to have a desire to play there for a deal to be possible. Somehow I doubt Danny Ferry is going to call up Ainge and inquire about trading Smith for Bass/21/22...

If Smith is traded you have to think it's going to be for an impact player like Gasol.

Yeah...He has us taking John Jenkins with the 21st pick. He's got no clue.

Rondo isn't going anywhere IMO.
KG and Allen will resign only if the team can compete for a ring next year. Rondo was the best player on this team last year and made the big three lives easier from day one.
Yes, he is hard to get by with, a pain in the a$$ a lot of times etc but he is the best PG in this league.

This team had the best chemistry and best locker room atmosphere compared to all the teams in the big 3 era. This is one of the reasons that the team competed so hard and surprised a lot of people in the playoff run.
KG won't be back if major changes are made (unless Kobe, Howard, Lebron or some other player in this caliber will sign - in which case Rondo can be traded).

Ainge will reload - meaning everyone except the big 4 is expendable to create a better team.

I like the Josh Smith trade. This is reloading at its best.

A volume shooter who takes bad shots.

It's not Toine, cause he retired. Gotta be talking about Josh Smith.

So, tell me why we want him here?

Gotta be a better way........

Josh Smith would get way Better shots with Rondo....he wouldn't just be chucking the ball up from 30 feet.

Most of Josh Smith's jump shots came when he was guarded. Rondo will get him a lot of open looks just like he does everyone else on the team. Plus he'll have someone other than Bradley to run with.

The Celtics have been a jump shot happy team with Rondo running the show over the last few seasons. So I don't get how Rondo suddenly gets Smith to play the game different from how he usually plays it or what evidence there is that Rondo leads players to take less ill advised jump shots.

UPDATE

I just had a couple slices of Pizzeria Regina under the old Garden scoreboard at the Arsenal Mall.

It felt like a good omen.

Well, according to Sam Amick, our target is...........................

Austin Rivers.

Sources say Boston's push to move into the lottery is partly driven by a desire to land Duke's Austin Rivers

Jump Shot Happy team-----when they sit around a WAIT until and IF Ray Allen can get open...Doubt this will be a problem anymore.

Ford also seems to think its Austin that we are targeting but doesnt think we will be able to get high enough to pick him.
