SADNESS FOR HEAT

Post#1 » by Heatallica » Thu Jun 28, 2012 9:37 pm

"Pat Cummings, who was on the Heat’s first team in 1988, was found dead on Tuesday in an apartment in New York’s Greenwich Village. He was 55.
Cummings played 12 years in the NBA. His stint in Miami lasted two years. While playing for the Heat, Cummings lived at the Clevelander on South Beach. He was the starting power forward in the Heat’s first game as a franchise."

Link to article in New York Times which tells a more complete story.

I remember him as being a really dorky awkwardly looking bb player. I use to call him "stay puff" because his body looked like it was made out of doe. Ah, the good old days. Sad to hear he passed away.

RIP, P-Cum.

I remember watching that expansion team, I moved to Florida the year the Heat were born. Also RIP to Ron Rothstein's circa-1988 afro.

Always called his hair a Jew-Fro. Had that 70's vibe to it.

Rest in Peace Pat. I was a freshman in high school during the inaugural season. Sucks to see people on that team passing away... Makes me feel old.
