Rockets Draft Lamb (12), White (16), and T. Jones (18)

Post#1 » by TMU » Fri Jun 29, 2012 1:22 am

All post-draft discussions related to the Rockets draft selections go here.

I don't know much about Royce White (have never watched his games) but given what we had, I like our selections.

Not sure what's gonna happen with Lamb but if he's staying, then Kevin Martin is gone. Looks like we're in for a large trade especially with this mass influx of PFs.

The player here with the most upside and the highest ceiling is Jeremy Lamb. I've watched him play and this guy has the talent to become a defensive stud and an above-average offensive player. Put him at the backcourt with a good PG and you have a 18+ ppg guy. I've only watched Royce White play once but the claim about him being a point forward shouldn't be taken seriously. It just doesn't work in the league right now. Royce White is the least appealing pick out of these 3. As for Terrence Jones, he does have a bit of an upside but his ceiling isn't too high as compared to Jeremy. But he's not a player that the other player shouldn't look down on. He's got a good leaping ability as well as deceptive speed. May have a better offensive set than Paul Millsap if he reaches his prime. He's also versatile. Anyhow, I say the Rockets made good picks. But it's highly likely that they're going to make some trades.

So four of our last five picks have been on SF/PFs...

I definitely like Lamb. I'm not sure about other tweener/undersized PF's tbh, but White seems to have a unique skill-set. Honestly, I don't know how much we can judge this w/out seeing what trades we make. It seems like it's almost a given Lowry, Martin, and one of our PF's will go, and for what will probably help paint a better picture...

Outside of Royce White, I like this draft. If you replaced him with PJ, I would have loved this draft.

with all these PFs, Scola is gone for sure, but will Patterson be gone too? Or are we packaging White and Jones for something bigger?

Larry Coon ‏@LarryCoon

I wish they'd hurry this up. Houston still has picks to trade for.

I just REALLY wish we would've taken PJ with 18, but I hope he does well in OKC. I really hope he patterns his game off of Durant.

i like lamb for you guys, but not the other two picks. as of right now, it makes no sense to have so many power forwards piled up so my only guess is that: a) you're hoping that white, morris, or jones (all 6'9") develop into a shooting forward or b) more trades are still to come.

Lamb is a good pick if he's not a knucklehead. Jones will struggle to find a position in the NBA. Royce is seriously the 2nd best player in the draft right now. You can trade him to my Bobcats anytime.
