Woj: Suns "serious contenders" to sign Ray Allen

Post#1 » by rsavaj » Thu Jun 28, 2012 10:52 pm

"The Phoenix Suns have surfaced as serious contenders to sign Boston Celtics free agent Ray Allen, league sources told Yahoo! Sports."

Allen, 37, is willing to explore offers beyond Boston. The Suns – regardless of whether they re-sign free-agent point guard Steve Nash – interest Allen, sources said.

Awesome.

I've dreamt of a Nash/Allen backcourt since forever.

Damn it!!!!

This means their bringing Nash back :(

Allen/Nash back court would have been great 5 years ago....now its not much different than a Nash/Redd backcourt.

a 25-29 year old Allen
a 30-current year old Nash
a 29-34 year old Hill

would be = Contenders!! if not favourite..

but sadly no..

Allen with the the Current Suns = fighting for 8th spot again...

Meaning miss out on another star potential draftee next season...

Suns = let it go.... build a new core.... putting pieces around a broken, high risk core means mediocrity again.

I think this is just smoke to give them more leverage in a S&T scenario for Nash.

Bring in KG too and I'm all for it. I'd rather we go the vet route if we're gonna be picking young players the way we are in the future.

And try getting Pierce and Rondo too and we could be named the Phoenix Celtics.

I know right. People complain about our pick being too low to miss the 4 great SG's we wanted yet they want a broken down 39 year old who will put us in the same exact spot next year. People just can't move on.

lol oh please, everyone's been calling for a youth movement/rebuild for yrs. We should have done this a yr or two yrs ago, or even before WCF appearance 2 yrs ago. Not 2012. Org chose to hold onto it til it was too late and Nash is a FA. This is what they wantedto be - competitive. Bandaid for a bullet wound. Why stop now.

I also now don't trust this org picking high if we ever did/do. Or any for that matter.

What do you mean everyone? Have you seen the comments in this thread? The majority of people want a 39 year old broken down SG next year. Lol, very few want to rebuild...

Overall, not this thread, jackass. They've always been calling for a rebuild. Maybe go read the other threads.

2 ppl in the thread want Ray Allen without conditions. Hardly the majority.

I want Ray Allen and Steve Nash for 2 years. Grant Hill 1 year deal.
Marshall - Dudley - Childress their backups, great backcourt.

I just say NO to geriatrics. Suns need to go young.

Return to Phoenix Suns
