I am actually quite happy with the pick. I know I've only posted a couple of times but one of them was in regard to how I thought Marshal would be a great player for Phoenix.

I've seen highlights and have watched him play on TV and he does have a better 3 point shot than people give him credit for. It's his mid-range shot that he has trouble with. The great thing is that he can improve his shot over time and become a more dangerous threat eventually.

He isn't the sexy type of pg that teams are gunning for right now but he is probably one of the greatest pure pg's to come out of college in a while and has some nice size for a pg to boot. My thing is that you can't teach pg instincts, you either have it or you don't, but you can teach and improve a player's shot.

I would have loved to have a shooting guard as well, but seeing as how they were pretty much taken, I think we have our future floor general. I hope we can get Drew Gordon out of New Mexico onto our summer league team now.

No he's a pass first PG who can't shoot consistently. He BARELY shoots that's why his % is high.

His % is high because he takes high % shots. Again you're pointing out decent qualities for a PG and turning them into massive flaws. Rondo had a broken jumper in college which you can tell by range efficiency and stationary efficiency (3pt and FT%).

In two years of college:

Rondo - 28% 3 PT - 57% FT
Marshall - 37% 3 PT - 69% FT

Now Rondo was a better prospect, nobody is arguing that.

Evan Fournier, Royce White, PJ3, Moe Harkless, Jeff Teague etc.

I wouldn't have been this upset had they taken Moultrie instead!

-Fournier is an international player and those are usually boom or bust types.
-Royce White doesn't have a position in the NBA (tweener) and lets see long term if he can handle his anxiety issues.
-Perry Jones III fell all the way to 28 and the Suns actually tried to trade for him so I don't know.
-Moe Harkless (no argument)
-Marquis Teague is not a better PG than Kendall Marshall.

So in conclusion the only player you could've argued over Marshall is Harkless, so lets see what happens in 2 years and where the Suns are. Maybe they get Shabazz or someone else that's a better 2 than what was available this year.

I dunno, I'm not the biggest Marshall by any means, but to me that doesn't hold water to be honest.

Marshall on a top 5 team in the toughest conference etc shot 46.7% on fg and 35% on 3s, ft% at just under 70%
Nash in his senior year at Santa Clara went 43% fg 34% on 3s and 89% on ft...

Took Nash 3yrs to average 5asst per...I could see Marshall doing 8-7 if given the lion's share of mins next year. We'd be horrible to watch, but he'd learn on the job. I feel like I'm defending someone I still am not close to being happy with as our lottery pick...But trying to make the best of our a horrendously bad (the Suns and their current cap situation/talent level/assets etc) situation...

The boggest knock on Marshall's shooting is slow release, slow set up. There are many drills to correct that and he'll have the benefit of some great teacher's - if Nash is still here that would be like Marshall wining the lottery. nash has never been one to be shy on helping young guys cf. Dragic


Not unhappy with Kendall, as i said in the draft thread. I'm pulling of the kid to succeed. Just cannot believe we didn't simply buy a second rounder or two - geez, even as a gesture to the long-suffering fans it would have been worth it from a PR standpoint.

The worst is I've been through this kind of (Please Use More Appropriate Word) FO before, as a Grizz fan under Stu Jackson, who surely is up there with the worst GMs in history.

Means a log jam in the front court but ehhhhh

I think the Cavs will be very happy with Waiters and Kyrie. Zeller is boring but wil be a big, solid, white guy center.
