Apparently Boston fans think they can get Smith for either Green+Bass or both of their first rounders.

I am a Celtic fan and I'll be the first to say that Green plus Bass is a bad deal for Atlanta unless Green turns out better then I suspect. Bass is a very good role player but that plus Green isn't enough in my honest opinion. A signed Green plus the two picks would probably be a fair deal but I just don't see how it could happen before the draft.

I do think the Haws are making a mistake for reportedly proposing Smith plus filler for Gasol. Gasol has usually been a better player then Smith but Gasol is now 32 and at most has 1-2 years left in which he is better then a healthy Smith.

If Smith is only disgruntled because the Hawks haven't won more series in the playoffs and he is taking the heat for the failures, they may be better off dealing Hortford since they could probably trade him for 100 cents on the dollar.

Oh man!!! we have a Celtic fan that is smarter about the situation in Atlanta than most Hawks fans. maybe that is another reason Boston is Historically better than Atlanta..............

But ...Horford is a nice guy! Hawks don't trade nice guys. Period.

The time to trade Horford was for an expiring last year before Dwight opted in.

Sixers source SixersFan1976 just posted that we offered the Hawks Iguodala, Thad, and both second round picks for Josh Smith and Marvin Williams.

So it's your opinion that the team should treat Smith like he's a Dwight/Lebron/Kobe talent and make moves to appease him because he can't take valid criticism? His fan club will applaud you but that's just not a good idea.

- Lakers can offer Bynum/Gasol to Orlando anytime they want

- Why would Orlando want Smith/Gasol over Bynum/Gasol ?

Maybe because they've watched the Lakers play Gasol at PF and get killed by the more athletic PFs?
Maybe because Josh Smith is 6 years younger than Gasol?
Maybe because Smith is a much better shot-blocker?
Maybe because Smith is a superior defender?

Maybe because Smith is $6 million cheaper?

Decent, but chemistry wise, i don't think it works for the Hawks.

i really like Derrick Williams coming out of Arizona, but when i was watching Minnesota last year, i got really disappointed in Derrick when he started to become "jump shot happy"

with Joe, Marvin, and Josh all jump shot happy, it is really disappointing that Derrick Williams is turning into another Marvin or Josh (or Granger).

i hope DW gets it together and learns to take it inside more next year.

I like Derrick Williams, have watched him play a great deal this past season, but I would think that Ferry would want more value. Nothing about Williams has indicated to me that he is going to become an All-Star during the near future. On the other hand, Josh Smith has been a borderline All-Star, does have more value, and his defense separates himself from Williams.

If Nash signs with the Raptors..........

***Scenario 1***
Calderon and Kleiza (or Bayless) for Joe
-Simple salary dumb and Ferry can sign free agents in 2013 (build the team he wants)

***Scenario 2***
Hawks get - Dwight and Turk
Raptors get - Joe
Magic get - Horford, Kleiza, and Calderon
-Hawks get Dwight / Rap get Joe and Nash / Magic get Horford and exp contact for Turk

LOL funny. Do you really think the Hawks can get Smith for Bynum? Lakers can do that trade anytime they want without taking back bad contracts of Davis and Richardson. If anything Josh Smith would go with Dwight to Hollywood and Big Baby and Richardson would come back here.

There is no way Atlanta would trade Smith to the Lakers so they can pair Howard and Smith together if they are only getting Davis and Richardson. Davis does not solve the two pf issue the Hawks have.

Ford mentions that the Lakers will return to talks with the Hawks after a JJ trade. Lakers asked for another piece along with Smith.

I can't see Atlanta being willing to give another big piece with Smith for Gasol. If they do trade Jj for basically expirings, I can't see them willing to bring in Gasol.
