I would love to get Mayo. I still think Pat should of taken him instead of Beas, but thats not point. We would need to work out a S&T or use our amnesty on Miller or Joel and I don't see that happening.

Celtics took both Sullinger and Fab Melo. They do this stuff on purpose trust me. Smh

If we don't get Ray Allen it will suck

I know we have great wing players but pretty soon we need to restock on athletic wings. Can't expect lebron and wade to keep handling that smh .

Plus when Riley says so don't need a point guard I dont really believe that

I'd be down for the Celtics to overpay Mayo... that move would pretty much force Ray to choose between Phoenix n Miami & I like those chances. Still holding out for Odom though.

The Phoenix Suns have surfaced as serious contenders to sign Boston Celtics free agent Ray Allen, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Allen, 37, is willing to explore offers beyond Boston. The Suns – regardless of whether they re-sign free-agent point guard Steve Nash – interest Allen, sources said.

I will face palm so hard if Ray signs with Phoenix That would suck for us. All signing with Phoenix would do is extend his career a bit with the medical staff, and allow him to collect a bigger pay check.

and for what it's worth...
Alex Kennedy ‏@AlexKennedyNBA
Robert Dozier will play for the Miami Heat's summer league team, according to source.

BTW, do we still have any rights to Patrick Beverley?

Listening to Riley's presser again, and all his talk of space for stars, the interest in Ray Allen couldn't be plainer.

EthanJSkolnick
So, if you are looking at list of Allen, Nash, Kaman and thinking Miami can get more than one as straight FA, stop.

EthanJSkolnick
Most likely: Allen. RT @SpreadJerm: @EthanJSkolnick If your lookin at the vets, lets say they can only get one..which one is smart money

EthanJSkolnick
Final thought on free agency: a lot of guys who look like minimum options won't be minimum options. Plenty of teams with room.

When watching some Houston games, Jordan Hill seemed like a good option for this team. Hustle, high energy, rebounds, finishes at the rim. Well, he'll command more than the minimum now that he broke out in the playoffs with the Lakers... what are some options for the center position we can afford?

my take on bigs is simple: go for them if they can play. a player should never get minutes just because he plays a certain position, basketball is a fluid game. i'm paraphrasing but coach k once said that he will alwaysplay his best players regardless of positions as long as it doesn't hurt him too much on defense and on the boards. that's why duke often plays with two point guards in the backcourt or no centers, etc. spo did the same thing in the playoffs when he realized that pittman, joel and turiaf were terrible. all of that to say this: i don't want camby, i don't want kwame, i don't even want jordan hill.

if riles can get kaman or odom, i'm on board. if he can't get these two, then find wings and continue to play battier at the 4 and bosh at the 5 - none of the other bigs available are good enough talent-wise to crack our 9-man rotation.

Ugh, please stop with the nash stuff. He is NOT coming here. There was a small shread of evidence that it was ever an option, and there is now an overwhelming amount of evidence that it will definitely not be the option. Let's stop bringing that up like it has any real potential. On top of that, whoever said Lebron and Wade off the ball would be dynamite...I don't know what offense/coach you've been watching the past 4 years, but LeBron and Wade off the ball is definitely NOT going to be dynamite for us. They're not jump shooters, they're slashers. They occasionally make good cuts to the basket, but we can't build an entire offense off that. Not to mention that basically sets back the two young PG that show good promise for this team. And Nash vs Westbrook on defense would make me cry (and Rose next year when he's had a second year to recover).

Secondly, Ray Allen going to the Suns is not going to happen either, whatever some BS source says. Why would he leave so that he can join a team on the decline, with no chances at a championship, for probably the last contract of his career? He's not playing for money at this point (though I'm positive he doesn't want beans). There are plenty of teams that could offer him a better lifestyle, better contender, and nearly equal pay than the Suns, especially with Steve Nash likely leaving. I'd put money on that.

Best training staff in basketball -- Phoenix can extend Ray's career and keep him playing 75-82 games per season for the next 3-4 years. That and money is all I can think of as them having any sort of advantage. More so than why he'd want to play there, I don't know why they'd want him. They're looking like serious competition for the Cats next year as far as the top seed in the lottery is concerned.

Hope we get him. Kaman and Nash seem unrealistic to me for what we have to offer. Ray would be tremendous for this team.

You really have absolutely NO IDEA what you're talking about, do you?
This "suggestion" is impossible for at least 3 different reasons. how old are you?

Actually that's not even one of the reasons  .
Look man, it's ok to be wrong, but the least you can do when you're kinda clueless about something is stop talking **** to other posters, dont bitch and complain about Riley and Arison and talk like you're an expert. you're not and that's cool, everybody has the right to voice their thoughts..just try to learn and listen a little too..

Anyway im with you about Ray, getting him would definitely make us more confident about the shaping of the roster.

I'd love to see the Heat pull off a s&t for Mayo.

Chalmers/future pick for s&t Mayo
if Miller's retiring: Miller/Anthony/Cole to Hornets for s&t Kaman
sign Allen 3yr $9M
sign Camby and Oden to vet min deals

Mayo/Cole
Wade/Allen
LeBron/Battier
Bosh/Haslem
Kaman/Camby/Pittman/Oden

Return to Miami Heat
