I wonder if anyone here even watched Kendall Marshall play

Post#1 » by JaredtheStudley » Fri Jun 29, 2012 6:22 pm

Crying suicide gifs, angry emots out at arse, seriously? You want to reach on Arnett Moultrie? Or Moe Harkless who is more raw than produce meat? John Henson who can only really just shot block? Or Captain "Idoncurr" Perry Jones?

Marshall was the safe and ideal selection. Obviously Lamb was the first option but he was gone, oh well, too bad.

Marshall's a true floor general, someone who can be plugged in and play right away and who can work his way in the future into the top 10 PG discussion.

Averaging 8/10/1.2 on 47% and 35% 3pt his senior season and for those saying he can't score, he put up an astounding 15 and 10.3 on 62%, 55% 3pt to close the season including the ACC and NCAA tournaments. And yes, he can shoot so get off the bath salts. He's not an athlete and struggles getting to the rim at a consistent rate, but that can improve, you can't teach floor vision. His ceiling is easily Andre Miller with a jump-shot, which is a perfect deal at 13.

Anyone who saw UNC play knew he was what made that team go, when he was hurt, how awful did Barnes look without a good PG feeding him shots? How out of synch did they look without the guy who not only excels on the fast-break but has excellent vision in the half-court?

If anything about this draft, I'm just upset the team didn't have a second round pick with good prospects still on the board.

According to Blanks, Marshall was the first option. So had Lamb dropped, he woulda gone right by us.

I'm just disappointed that we remain stuck in limbo. We need to let Nash walk and trade our remaining assets and move on.
OKC did it right. Cleveland is doing it right. Charlotte is doing it right. We are doing it wrong.

Well then, correction on the draft board. Either way I'm not disappointed in Marshall.

Many of us like the pick, but there are always going to be those who overreact no matter who we would've taken.

The problem that I have with the pick is that it isn't even close to what the Suns need to. The Suns needs more than anything to start rebuilding this team. They need a massive influx of young players. When you have one of the deepest drafts in years and the Suns come out with only one player when teams like Houston roll in draft picks for junk it speaks volumes about this team.
To top this off is the fact in Dragic there is a free agent player who is young and is a more complete player and could be had for the promise of being your starting point guard and a salary that is well within our range.
So the only reason to go with Marshall is that you are going to try to bring some ancient player like Ray Allen in to try to put off rebuilding for another year or two. This is the problem with this team they just don’t seem to want to do the things to turn this team into something other than a has been.
Run and Gun. Go Suns.

lolol like they'd admit he was ranked lower or he'd be our pick if Lamb was there. Please. They always talk up the players and lie. Kerr admitted recently himself on the Curry/Clark/Holliday draft.

What are you even talking about?

The Rockets have many more assets than the Suns, I'm not gonna compare situations because Morey has a history of stocking up picks only to deal for mediocre players.

No matter what happened in the draft, the team was gonna make a move for Allen so equating that with Marshall's selection is ridiculous. Dragic wasn't gonna come on a reasonable salary, the Rockets are looking to deal Lowry so they can pay Dragic the rightful salary. OJ Mayo, Eric Gordon are two scorers that could easily be attracted to play with a pass first PG and rebuilding team like Phoenix.

Stop equating this selection to the front office being ok with mediocrity. If that were the case, they would've taken a "safe" and no upside pick like Zeller or Henson.

I dont mind the pick at all, although I see Lamb to be the more ideal player since Suns need a scoring 2.

But Marshall at pick 13 is fine....

I'm more dissapointed about Suns FO failing to get another pick... whilst 76ers easily got a trade with Heat.... and Rockets were working OT all week before draft getting busy...

Suns could of used a second pick badly...

As much as I wanted another first round pick we were not in a position to give future first like Sixers did.

On the other hand, our FO should buy early second for cash and take someone like Will Barton, Jae Crowder or Quincy Miller.

And as time goes by I am more and more content with picking Marshall. This kid can be a special player.

That is interesting that the pick Philly got from Miami was Arnett Moultrie (who we liked) and it cost them a lottery protected first next year. We may have offered them the same, but they may have felt like a lottery protected first from Philly is better because they are more likely to make the playoffs next year so Miami would actually get the pick and be able to add someone.

There are really only a few players I would have wanted to potentially trade a future pick for once it got into the late first round...Quincy Miller being one. Doron Lamb MAYBE, but not sure.

Of course it would have been nice if we got a pick for cash, but I wouldn't have wanted to give up a good player or future pick for just any 2nd rounder.

19 page thread on Marshall or not, this guy has shown more wisdom in his post than half of the one's in the other thread.

Can Marshall dunk or are we gonna have to live through another 6 years of having a PG who can't dunk?

His max vert reach at the combine was 11-1 (37 in vert leap). Rivers was 11-2. So, yes, unless he just cannot hold on to the ball, he can dunk.
