Re: Waiters?
I think what did Barnes in for Cleveland was when Kendall Marshall was out he faded. They didn't want someone who Kyrie had to carry. They wanted someone who could take pressure off, not potentially add more.
Barnes would be pretty worthless running a pick and roll as ball handler. Basically all the NBA has become is a series of PnRs all game and isos. DIon Waiters can excel at that.

Good point, also complementary pieces without individualism is what we've built LeBron teams on, something we now steer away from.

Re: Waiters?
The only thing clear for me coming out of this Draft is that this team is gonna suck this year, I only see Charlotte, Phoenix, and Brooklyn if they lose Deron having worse record.
You'll be picking 3-4rd for 3rd straight year, and I think, you just earned one of the highest chances of picking Alex Poythress in the league.

That's fine, if we following OKC model then we're on path, that'd be our final major piece.

Re: Waiters?
As a Warriors fan, I think you Cavs fans should feel pretty good.
Put it this way, we got Harrison Banes and are pretty happy with him - but he was the third choice out of 3 behind MKG and Waiters.
One guy who struggled to hide is disappointment was Jerry West, who really wanted Waiters If the kid has Jerry West's stamp of approval, you should feel okay with the pick

I think the biggest problem is, most people didn't warm up to the idea, we hardly knew who Beal was few months ago, but through mocks and media, we warmed up to him, Waiters kinda came out of nowhere.

6' 4" in shoes with a 6' 7" wingspan, you are selling him a bit short. Cleveland does not strike me as a team that would make a promise to someone, especially that high.
You should focus on what his height is without shoes. It is 6-2.5. Think about that for a sec. He is shorter than Beal by almost an inch, and Beal is already short as is. He will get owned by other shooting guards, period.
At 6-2.5 he is shorter than Sam Cassell. Just think about Cassell having to guard other shooting guards. Cleveland will not draft this guy, he simply does not fit.

Lol.
NBA measures in shoes, he's 6'4 in shoes, he's 30 pounds heavier than Kyrie Irving, think about that one, 30 pounds.

I just don't have the confidence in two point guard sized players playing at the same time. It's rare for that to succeed.

Re: Waiters?
And another thing I'm upset about is we got ourselves a Harden, and not a Durant. (a 3rd option player, not a 2nd option player) Who is gonna fight fire with fire against LeBron and Durant? Who is going to take their throne? We needed someone who had the potential to be unstoppable on offense. I don't see that happening with a 6'4"ish guard having 6'5 and up guards locking him down with their length.

No ****. Just shut up. Wait, so there wasn't a KD in this draft? Go figure.... and better yet, he wasn't available at 4? We got the best scorer, hands down. Go home.

Re: Waiters?
This guy is too much. I guess Isiah Thomas/Joe Dumars and Tim Hardaway/Mitch Richmond were shoddy back courts. We need length and wing span at the guard positions! Lets get some 6'8" guys as our guards who dribble the ball off their legs, then we'll have lots of lots of length!

No, he's too much because he's expecting us to draft Durant, and at #4.

yea the report on waiters didnt come out until the middle of the night wednesday and most people probably didnt see it. people were pissed about the harrison barnes report a couple weeks ago and then were up in arms when the cavs didn't take him.

exactly, great point. They are not going to build the team around Kyrie as they did LeBron, with a bunch of players lacking confidence and who can't do anything on their own.
I love that approach, my main concern right now is a strong headed young man who has weight issues (imo). He's not in optimal shape, I could see problems stemming from this. When you are so confident i yourself and you're making big money no one can tell you anything.

He is the same height as Bradley Beal look at the draft photo:

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.
