Wolves get two rumored targets

Post#1 » by [RCG] » Sat Jun 30, 2012 6:05 pm

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7pyptmh

MN out: Williams, Johnson, Barea, Webster, Miller, Milicic, Memphis 1st
MN in: Gasol, Iguodala

LAL out: Gasol
LAL in: Williams, Johnson, Barea, Milicic, MN '14 lotto-protected 1st

Lakers are in a dire luxury tax situation and Gasol is now the third wheel. Lakers have holes at PG & SF. Barea is a nice PG off the bench and Johnson always seems to do well against Kobe who has been his mentor of sorts. If anyone can wipe the smile of his face, it's Kobe.

PHI out: Iguodala
PHI in: Webster, Miller, Memphis 1st

Sixers go the youth route now with Harkless to replace Iggy and Moultrie to replace an amnestied Brand. They get cap-space and Memphis' 1st next year to continue the youth movement.

Split MLE between Roy and Tolliver (Roy - $4mil, Tolliver - $1mil)
Ideal would be if Ray Allen settled for the MLE.

Rubio/Ridnour/Lee
Roy/Budinger/Ellington
Iguodala/Budinger/Hummel
Love/Gasol/Tolliver
Gasol/Pek/Tolliver

As I said in the other thread, we can't afford both Gasol and Iggy. We'd be sitting at close to $70 million in salary with that lineup. Zero chance Taylor does that.

CL, if Pau gets traded, does he automatically use the trade kicker or has anyone ever not used their trade kicker to avoid being a liability to the team. I dunno if he is that unselfish, but if he has that option itd be awesome if he didnt use it.

shrink used to debate whether or not the kicker would be applied because it was more than the 35% of the teams cap that is allowed by the CBA.

So in short, I don't know.

Also, I don't think PHI will give Iggy away for immediate cap and a future 1st/2nd.

i thought taylor said he as willing to spend overs if hes a chance of winning a title ?

either way i dont think 76ers do this they said at the draft they were trying totrade iggy for gay which means they seemed to want a good player in return not cap relief

I think looking into motive is dangerous. Gay is younger would fit better with a core of:

Holiday/
Turner/
Harkless/Young
Moultrie/Young
Vucevic/

Good luck convincing the Lakers and Sixers to accept this. This benefits no one but the Wolves.

Remember that whole lockout thing that happened last summer/fall? Do you remember why it happened? It's because team salaries are actually a really big deal.
