it'll probably take 2 seasons for him to even meet riley's strict body fat requirements
I think I read he was at about 15% right now

He was on a 1-year minimum deal. He might as well opt-out

J-Ham is already in better shape than either Pittman or Curry were last season. That 15% body fat is nothing. Any word on if he's playing in Summer League? He tweeted tonight that he'll be in SoBe tomorrow morning. I guess this will be his first sitdown with the boss and we might see some interviews with him. PEACE.

He will. he'll get his chance to earn a roster spot this year, if he cant get in good enough shape and learn our system fast enough - we'll send his for a year in europe where he could get playing time, work on his game and become a better athlete.
from what ive seen of him i think it's a 50/50 chance.

Former MSU standout Moultrie won't play in 76ers summer league
http://www.cdispatch.com/sports/article.asp?aid=17697
Former Mississippi State University forward Arnett Moultrie already has suffered his first professional setback before getting a chance to suit up for his new team.
Moultrie, who the Miami Heat selected with the No. 27 pick in the NBA draft on Thursday and then traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, suffered a severe left ankle sprain that will force him to miss the summer league session designed for rookies and second-year players.
The 76ers announced Tuesday that Moultrie suffered the injury last month at a pre-draft workout. The organization said Moultrie will attend the games in Orlando and will work primarily with the team's medical and training staff to be ready for the start of the preseason.

radikalBaller,
I don't read this board that often, but I have been recently and you continue to mention Moultrie. Even in threads where he has no business being mentioned. You like him for the Heat. I did too. He's a 76er now. End of story. Move on. He's not a Heat. Hamilton is. They're not going to do a reverse trade. What good does it do to bring him up again and again?

Rise from your grace, Lazarus!
Necrobump going on for this thread. Where in the world is Justin Hamilton?
Turns out, he's no longer with Cibona Zagreb in Croatia, but now with VEF Riga in Latvia. Seems the team wasn't paying him, so he left. He's getting more minutes in Latvia, so that should help his development. It's hard to track down much information about him, so here are some tidbits I managed to find:
Eurobasket has no clue where he went to school.
Here are his stats from the two leagues. They have him listed as 255lbs, which would be 10lbs lighter than what he's listed at on DraftXpress. I have higher hopes for him than Varnado, but that's not saying much. PEACE.

VEF Riga (LBL) landed 23-year old American center Justin Hamilton (210-116kg-90, college: Iowa State). He played recently at Cibona in Croatian A1 league. In 5 Eurocup games this season he averaged 7.8ppg and 3.4rpg. Hamilton also played 16 games in Adriatic League where he had 8.1ppg and 5.6rpg.
Last year he was drafted by Drafted by Philadelphia 76ers (NBA) in second round (45th overall). The former Iowa State staris in his first season in pro basketball. His team won Croatian Supercup.
Hamilton received NABC Division I All-District 21 2nd Team award in 2012 at his college time.
Hamiltons game is described as: (by Tyler Ingle for NBADraft.net in 2012)
Solid quickness and speed for his size ... Lives around the basket ... Scores well in the post because of his size and soft touch ... Has a nice looking baby push shot when he turns over his left shoulder, and a developing left-handed hook when he turns over his right ... Keeps the ball high and away from any secondary defenders ... An excellent mid-range shooter. Doesnt explode off his feet ... Plays below the rim. Lacks great finishing ability.

He's not finesse, it's just that he can actually shot.
I see him playing like a bigger Nick Collison, which would be great for us.

but can he rebound? When i first saw him on youtube after we drafted him, he was hittin a bunch of jumpers.
If he were a high motor guy with a shot I'm all for it but what we need is rim protection and rebounds. If he can hit shots consistently like Bosh thats cool but in the end we will still have rebounding issues. I'd still take him because we generally lack size but he doesn't excite me much

IIRC from what I read last year, he's not a great rebounder, but it could be because of how far from the basket he plays at times. When tasked with the job, he's a decent offensive rebounder.
I'm hoping he gets into NBA shape before Summer League, so we can get a good idea of his improvements. I liked him more than Pittman at last year SL, because unlike Pitt, JHam looked like he was learning from his foul troubles. I also think he was the only person on the SL roster that knew how to set a screen. I think he could be a nice pick-n-pop big to space the floor. Especially if we end up amnestying Joel, or letting Birdman walk. I like Ham better than Varnado too. PEACE.

I don't see Collison in him at all. Collison would be a big upgrade for this team.

You remember incorrectly. J-Ham was getting into foul trouble for setting moving screens. Maybe if has adjusted to NBA speed he could get better. But I agree, unlike Pittman, that Hamilton did seem upset with himself over the calls.
