I say we offer a max contract to Roy hibbert and trade Howard. We have enough people not coming back this year that we can offer the max. Then we trade with Houston and get Lowry and whatever else they care to give us like kmart and his expiring but not scola. Then we pick up a couple more free agents next year and we will be set to be a playoff team.

We don't have the capspace to offer him a max contract ..

I did not think it was this bad. Not all of this makes sense but the bottom line is we are seeing smoke. Given the injury on top of this I lean towards trading Dwight. But for what? Either a rebuild package or a perrianial all star/reload package. I'm almost leaning reload just because e can hopefully bring in a good FA to compliment the perrianial all star we get back for Howard.

If we have to trade dwight, fine, I just hope ESPN puts together a montage of all the BS he's said along the way

this injury stuff could be a hoax... its his trump card.

A team wants to trade for him? he'll just say "whoa, are you sure, i'm awfully injured right now... i may have to sit a season"

I like this idea a lot. Forgot about Hibbert. Or if Hibbert does not get here go after Asik

I'll speculate that maybe Deron is forcing the nets hand, and now they're trying to after Joe Johnson... Dwight knows if that happens then he can't get to BK at all so he's trying to throw everything he's got at it.

If I'm rob, I tell Dwight to sit back and rehab that back for awhile... we'll revisit things closer to the trade deadline.

We'll get lowballed worse at the deadline than we will now. The closer we get the to the deadline the less time we have to actually get anything of value for Dwight. He needs to be traded before the season starts or not at all.

if he's this hell bent on getting out no matter what he needs to go before the season starts. no point in having him worsen our lottery chances. he won't go to the nets either way. the nets realize they don't have assests to get him anymore. he should either be a laker or rocket by the time the season starts. but if i could do it i'd trade his ass to the bobcats and make his ass rot there for a year.

Magic should do the trade soon, but they should tell the Nets it wont be with them. This will force them to spend on Johnson and Dwight to add teams to his "list".

Ryan and Clark don't make that much money to begin with.

Since when did JJ get cut?

If Dwight is traded, we're going to be taking back salaries.

You have to be under the cap enough to take on the salary for Hibbirt's max contract.

Your idea still sucks.

Stop getting so defensive.

Everyone has bad ideas sometimes.

You're acting like Dwight.

Everything will be fine.

The Nets have reached agreement on a 4 year, $40 million contract with Gerald Wallace, league sources confirm. NY Post first reported.

What happens if we let this thing play out until mid-to-late July. Maybe if Deron signs elsewhere, Dwight rescinds it. Who knows. But I still think the change of scenery is better for both parties, this relationship rarely play out like what Kobe and Lakers had before.

That's right.
If you trade Dwight for expirings you still get 18+ millions on expiring contracts to pay and count on the salary cap, you know?
Plus, with Hedo+BBD+JR+CDuhon on the books, and counting the cap hold of Ryan, you don't have enough to offer the max.
Taking the salaries that Hoopsworld has on their site, cutting all those guys and even renouncing Ryan and not having to count his cap hold would make the Magic stay around 47M in salaries.
So, yeah, don't look so surprised because the Magic will not offer max money to anyone this summer simply because they can't.

You might wanna check this: http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm
And our salaries: http://www.hoopsworld.com/orlando-magic-team-salary

To offer Hibbert a max contract NOW, we'd need cap space NOW.

As a fan of the Magic, we should all be done. Not done with Dwight (yet), but done with this circus act as a whole. It's beyond ridiculous now with rumors saying this, sources saying that. How do we sort through the haystack to find that needle?

Well, there's only one way. We need closure. We need to know exactly how this relationship is going to end. And you know what? Dwight is the only one capable of doing that. He needs to come out and be completely honest about this whole thing. His image is done, so whether he wants to go to Brooklyn or not at this point is irrelevant.

Release a statement, Dwight. Not from a PR angle; from your heart. If the reports and sources are lying, confront them publicly by dismissing their information as false. From there, actions speak louder than words. Work with Hennigan to develop the culture you'd like and agree to an extension. It's really that simple.

If you want to be traded, say so. Or better yet...do nothing. Because if you don't clean up this mess soon, it will all prove to be true.

Ball is in your court and the clock is ticking.
