It's not being pessimistic... it's about money. They are doubling our offer, present a chance to contend, and are a team he's won with an been on for a while. There's still a chance maybe but as long as Celts are really doubling our offer I wouldn't count on it. tough to turn down.

We did have a big improvement. It was bosh.

I don't know what you're expecting. We have 3 franchise players, good role players, we won a championship, and still you're worried about free agency coming up. Take it easy

Yeah lets bring the whole team back. J.Howard welcome back.

Well now you're just being stupid

If the Celtics retain Allen, let them. That is straight over payment for someone thy intend to come off the bench IMO. All for keeping him away from us. It shows how terrified people are of us getting good free agents. However, in hindsight, the pay cut Allen would take with the mini-MLE is not that much. It is three years, and three million less, to back up the best SG in the league.

Nash wants his offers at around $12M/year. so forget him.

Hibbert got paid the max, and Asik is going to get around $8-10M/year.

Worse comes to worse, if we have NO ONE ELSE to use our mini-MLE on, how would you guys feel about using it on Jordan Hill? The Heat are going to meet with him. I will only entertain the idea of mini-MLE if we have no other takers. I say this because the Lakers QO is not that much more, it's like $3.4M/year. He can get that to back up Bynum or get $3M/year to star for us?

IDK. Let's just wait it out. I still have a good gut feeling about signing Ray Allen.

Hill is restricted, Lakers would match anything we offer

I am very interested in Camby. He proved that he could be good in a limited role in Portland. He started for like 20 minutes a game, grabbed around 9 boards, had some points, and a block. He could do the same thing here. Limit him to 18-20 minutes a game like we did with Joel last season when he started, and rotate in UD/Pittman/Joel. He won't be in the closing line up.

We need some more wing scorers, so I'm hoping we sign either Rashard Lewis or Antawn Jamison. Camby would be nice but I'm not sure he'd sign for the mini-MLE...

Dalembert is the most over rated player in nba history. He's one of the biggest names you here every offseason, and during the season, it's like he doesnt exist. And dont forget, its a league now where Center play of God awful, and he's still not a big fish

IMO - I don't think we can afford Allen, he's not the type of player that we can get using the same "Riley Talk" - based on what other players are getting, it WILL come down to money. No guarantee starting, minutes, and less money than memphis/boston/NY.

FROM RILEY

Among concerns of potential Heat free-agent targets could be the lack of openings in the lineup. Riley said Battier, the team's prime 2011 offseason acquisition, stood as an example of such worries being overstated. "Shane knew coming in last year, he knew we didn't make an agreement with him guaranteeing playing time," Riley said. "But we said we felt he would play a significant role, a real significant role with this team, and it became one of the most important roles."

Allen already has a ring, that same statement(in bold) that was put to Shane may not be enough. Remember Ronny opted out.

I would be happy to be wrong

Its too early to say how the offseason will end but to go into the offseason wanting Vets over youth yet just having 3 mil to offer as a plan A is not a great plan so far to be polite but its to early to tell. If only we had the opportunity to draft lottery type tallent that fell through the cracks

Allen would be wise to take the Celtics better offer, it sucks to say that.

1. Camby mocked Pat Riley's system several years ago
2. He doesn't want to move, he's considering retiring or will re-sign with existing team per his comments.

Gerald Wallace - 4/40
Steve Nash - 3/36
Hibbert - Max
Batuum - 4/40

Allen - 1/3 - not very confident, BUT if they sign Terry, we may have a shot - I would love to be completely wrong here.

Turiaf’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, said his client always intended to test the market. "He’s worth more than the minimum," Bartelstein said. "He had a significant hamstring injury" late in the season.

@SpearsNBAYahoo: While Celtics free agent Brandon Bass interested in re-signing, Pacers, Nets, Mavs, Heat (sign and trade), Knicks and Hawks intrigued too.

@SpearsNBAYahoo: Expect Heat, Celtics, Lakers, Hawks and Knicks to have interest in free agent Rashard Lewis once he clears waivers, source tells Y!

Keep the faith, Ray is coming. I fully expect by Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest Ray is taking our offer. The chance to add to his legacy is too great to be quantified by money, and he hates Rondo. He could add 2 or 3 more titles to his cabinet depending on how long he wants to play for, instead of fighting to get into the playoffs with one of the oldest units in the league. Its not foolish to think he'll go back to Boston and spend the rest of his career wondering what if he came here and actually finished his career on top instead of being a bench option on a 7th or 8th seed for the next few years. I bet you anything Riley goes to his house with Bron Bosh and Wade with his bag full of rings and asks "Want two?"

Ray is coming, thats the least of our worries...I'm more worried about signing a big man than IF Ray is coming. He'll come to his senses and suit up in Miami next year...HAVE FAITH IN RILES!!!

The only question with Ray we should be asking is if he's going to be wearing #20 or #34 here. Camby probably wouldn't be a good option and Kaman is too expensive...perhaps Jameson?

As much as they're throwing at centers, it makes sense for him to try to get some. He already got a ring now.
