Rockets trying to get Eric Gordon

Unread postby hsfolk on Sat Jun 30, 2012 9:04 pm
The Rockets are reportedly preparing a sign-and-trade offer for Eric Gordon, in which they'd send Kevin Martin and a package of young players to New Orleans.

Hornets247.com reports that in addition to KevMart, Houston would give New Orleans their pick of 2-3 prospects, including Patrick Patterson, Jeremy Lamb, Royce White, Donatas Motiejunas, and Terrence Jones. It's an interesting offer but so far there's no reason to think it's gaining traction

are we giving up too much?

this guy missed more games than Martin has in the last 4 years and will likely be paid more than Martin as well, granted he is a multidimensional player

thoughts?

Martin and Lowry for starters not sure about the rest but I know I would like to keep Lamb, D-Mo and White. Only problem is he is not worth the contract that he is looking for.

Too much for one of the more overrated players in the league. Will probably command a near MAX salary and I'd be hesitant to give someone that kind of money who missed all of last season.

AND KEEP ROYCE WHITE!!!

Way too much for an overrated player. Hard to believe that the Rockets gave them the option to choose any of our young talents including Lamb.

I don't want donatas or lamb gone but anyone else I'm cool with. Is it too much for gordon, yes! Would he immediately be the best player on our team, yes. We're talking about a player who does multiple things well on offense an averages 20+ ppg and he's only 23. If it wasn't for his injury history I'd have no problem with this at all plus we move martin.... Doesn't matter he's not gonna want to come here...

as a hornet fan i love the trade, it actually baffles me that some hornets fans are against it.. I'd literally drive Gordon to Houston myself for that package.... Lamb Montiejunas White and Martin? yes please where do i sign?

Definitely sounds like a terrible trade. Especially considering the fact of his injury history, and the Rockets history with injury prone cornerstone players. We'd be giving up way too much. I would much rather begin the rebuild process with Lamb and DMo than them plus someone that Lamb can easily become, but taller.

And there's no way a trade for Gordon goes down and Lamb is not involved. NO would kill to develop Rivers at PG and have Lamb play the 2. I'm not gon lie either. The thought of that back court in 3-4 years is scary. Plus you throw in the fact that they'll still suck next year, so they could quite possibly land one of Noel, Mohammed, or Zeller. They might change their name from New Orleans to New OKC.

This makes me nervous.

Then again, I'm always whining about Morey being averse to risk...
