Agreed.

It's unfortunate Italy went down like that.

Props to Italy though for getting to the Euro Final as an underdog.

Is Torres the worst golden boot winner, ever?

Two goals against Ireland
One goal and one assist against ten-men Italy who had already given up

So yes.

Er. A German journalist has just asked Andres Iniesta if he enjoys "the shower after the match" more than any other aspect of football...?!?

Congratulations to Spain. Good game.

The level of play throughout the EC was rather bad, IMO. I was disappointed.

Mario Gomez 2011/2012 season:

Bundesliga: Runner-up
Champions League: Runner-up
DFB-Pokal: Runner-up

Bundesliga top goalscorer: Runner-up
Champions League top goalscorer: Runner-up
Euro 2012 top scorers: Runner-up

It would have been epic if Germany finished second

2001/2002 season of Bernd Schneider, Oliver Neuville, Carsten Ramelow, Michael Ballack (all Bayer Leverkusen):

Bundesliga: Runner-up
Champions League: Runner-up
DFB-Pokal: Runner-up
World Cup: Runner-up

Neither was a #2 goalscorer, but it was still pretty, er, unsatisfying :-?

In a way, the Spanish NT reminds me of the great Spanish cyclist Miguel Indurain. In his prime, Indurain was a cool, poised guy who never got shook by enemy mountain attacks, and crushed his opponents in the time trials - just like the Spanish NT never seems to get goals against, and always scores at least 1. In both cases, you can see it coming, but you could never stop it. Both were somewhat bland, but both also redefine(d) their sport and rightfully are in GOAT range.

It will be very difficult but Spain will be contender in 2014 Brasil WC. The older field players of team are Pujol (36 in Brasil WC), Xavi H (34), Villa (33), Xabi A.(33). The rest of the team will be a perfect age.

Pujol hasn't played any game at this tournament, and I think he never will play another championship with this team. Already we have another players for replace Villa and I would feel satisfied if Xavi or/and Xabi remain with the team until 2014. BTW, we have Xabi Martinez for replace Xabi A. BTW, It looks Xabi M. will sign with Bayern Munich soon.

Xavi H is unrepeatable and irreplaceable, and he still could has a great level with 34 years, who knows.

Anyway, Spain will have a redoubtable team for Brasil WC.

This is the most accomplished European team in history, and maybe the world, all of this w/o having a first class star like Pele or maradona, not even Cruif, Platini or Zidane level.
