I don't think it is possible with that massive 3rd year.

3 years, goodbye Asik. Let's hope for getting something in return.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. It's not all that bad, as it's essentially, 5, 5, and 15.

Once it's the contract is on the killer third year, you use him as an expiring.

so rent him at $5m per? forget it. he's worth more to other teams than he is to CHI who are tanking anyway hopefully.

with it being backloaded. No chance Rockets helps Bulls out when they can use their assets elsewhere

Evidently Houston wanted him bad. They 'wisely' structured the deal so that we basically can't match unless our FO eats a bushel of peyote.

If nothing is signed, can the bulls sign and trade him to any team? Or is the verbal agreement binding? Perhaps we should ask Carlos boozer this question.
We have Martell Webster. He's called Kyle Korver here, and we shall love him and squeeze him and call him Ashton. -BrooklynBulls

At 5 5 and 15, I'm actually more open to the idea of matching it.

Asik's value will diminish a little bit, not a ton. His value as a trading chip would be the same value he would have to us in terms of resigning him. He's not only a rotational player on reasonable pay in the first 2 years, but you have his last year as a GIGANTIC expiring contract. Even if he sucks, that expiring will still be valuable as an expiring.

I'm no capologist, but wouldn't we have to take back a good chunk of his 15 mill if we dealt him in the 3rd year.

Schuster is guessing the Bulls will match the deal for now, and in the 3rd year they will have to do something about either Noah or Asik.

On the Finfer show right now.

 Well played.

MAQ - good question. The one year at 15, my first reaction was WTF but you are right it's two years at a good price and one expiring year at a (really) bad price.

The plot thickens.

Sign and trade - Fish was saying in another thread they did away with RFA sign and trades.

DRose scheduled to make $17.8 million and Boozer scheduled to make $16.8 million in season Asik's deal would jump near $15 million.

Boozer won't be here.

No one is taking his $15 M without sending us back their crap. When was the last time that an expring alone contract got anyone an elite player?

Offer sheet will be for $25.1 million over four years. Bulls will have three days to match after signed July 11.

so what is it 3 or 4? A link would be nice also when you quote tweets.

I'd rather pay Asik 15 million in 3 years than Boozer. Damn though.

John Hollinger‏@johnhollinger

By my reading, most Asik can get on 3-year deal is $23.1M. Breaks out 5.0 yr 1, 5.2 yr 2, 12.9 yr 3.
