The owners should have shut last season down.

Things really haven't changed at all.

At least we aren't the Nets. Giving Gerald Wallace $40m? Well, it's not as crazy as Asik but that's just crazy New Jersey.

i havent seen the asik deal yet. how bad is it?

these small/mid market bubble teams with capspace are so ridiculous with their money. its like giving a 5 year old a 20 dollar bill and turning them loose in the toy store, but telling them to only spend 15 dollars. impossible.

From what I read, he was offered $8m a year so it would have to be:

5
5
10
12

Or something along those lines. Gilbert Arenas provision prevents it from being 8/8/8/8.

Over paying for mediocre players arent getting those team anyway. I'm just glad that it's not us. Save our money for when the right time come, where other teams are capped out.

4 years 32 mil for asik?

wow. thats crazy. i would have thought 4 years 20 mil would be about the most he would get. good backup; poor starter, nothing more, nothing less.

I'm honestly not surprised. Teams always overpay for big men. Big men with potential? Time to empty the coffers.

According to several reports, the Nets would receive Johnson in return for four expiring contracts: Anthony Morrow, Jordan Farmar, Johan Petro and Jordan Williams plus a first round pick in 2013

From the GB so take it with a grain of salt.

the flexibility to be a good team. Also Brook Lopez to pair with Horford, which is actually quite good.

EDIT: ^ or that maybe. I saw Lopez, no picks, and a couple of inconsequential contracts somewhere else but it was just rumors.

We need to trade with Brooklyn. We would be almost guaranteed to walk out victorious in any trade with them. Just rob them till they still have something to be robbed for. I mean as much as we love Crash, him getting 4/40 shows the Brooklyn front office is incompetent. Or pressured russian style.

Wow, if they trade Johnson for Lopez that will be one of the stupidest trades I have ever seen. I would rank that as worse than drafting Ammo.

I'm not a huge Lopez fan but trading him for the overpaid Johnson and leaving that hole is ridiculous.
I read that if they trade for Johnson they wouldn't be able to take on Dwight, so they would have to keep their centre surely!

They'd have to make other moves to do it but they probably could.

Just heard the news about Anthony Davis. I don't know if he had prior injuries in the past but it got me thinking. Did we came out of the draft with Kevin Durant and the Hornets landed Greg Oden? This probably crossed everyone's mind.

I hope the injury is not serious. Kid does have lots of talent. But I do wonder about a human body growing so much so fast as happened with him. Seems like there has to be some weaknesses in there or something. That said, I hope MKG stays strong and healthy.

It's better for it to happen now than for him to have a mild one nagging him all offseason. at least the kid will get rest.

How is this on the players?? This is on the GM's for overspending again while they still can..

That said, I'm not mad at the Asik contract, especially when you look at advanced metrics....Hibbert's contract is more inexcusable
