Why not take a flier on the guy? Sign him to a cheap, incentive laden, minimum guarantee 1 or 2 year deal and see if he can get healthy.

Huge upside, Low Risk

I'm guessing there is more than one team looking to do the minimum deal with him. Rumored were the Heat and I'm sure all the big markets with no cap space.

That being said I'd say we should offer $1.5 mil for a couple years guaranteed if he meets certain requirements. Worth the risk, yeah.

Didn't he say he wouldn't sign with anyone this next season and would be back next? Pretty sure he had another knee op done.

Yup. He will be out until 2013/14 and that's being optimistic.

I'd take a chance on him, though. He was one of my favorite players (when he was playing) and he'd made a perfect fit (if he somehow manages to stay healthy, which I doubt).

He's been done for a few years, but this should seal the deal. He made a few million, now he needs to go on and enjoy life out of basketball.
