Yeah I really don't understand him....
Did he have this plan all along or what? Did ownership do something to piss him off? It couldn't have been management, because all of them (and the coaching staff) are gone.
I just really don't get it. He could be a Net right now if he wanted. Did he think that we would magically become open to trading him to the Nets if he waited a few months?
He doesn't want to walk away from that extra guaranteed year. Opting in gave him another year to delay being forced to do that. If the magic really look at his behavior they should see his motives. His word is trash, and in negotiations people don't always tell the truth. Look at his actions. He opts in and so he doesn't have to take the lesser max contract. He doesn't want to be traded to another team at the deadline because then he would definitely be in a market that he doesn't want to be in, and be FORCED to walk and take the lesser contract. It was only 2.5 months and then he could be free.
No, Dwight wants what he wants. It's all a game. He has to make Deron believe he is coming there. He has to make the FO believe he will only play in Brooklyn in order to get what he wants which is a trade. He only wins in a trade. He will not win, meaning get everything he wants, if he has to opt out and walk. He doesn't hate orlando, and i honestly believe it's not personal. He wants to be there, and he wants it waaaaaaay more than being here. There is something with his brand that has been promised with going there. He will push for that until the option is gone.
Just be glad I am not the gm, because I would play it out one of two ways, and make him pick between options, as i know these options could change. BK has to fill out their roster and he may not be able to walk away to that team. If a deal came from anywhere that I liked, I would do that if it helped my causes for the magic. There is a reason why GS and HOU are still willing to trade for him. THey don't believe him either. They know the chances are high that he ends up on the same team because BK has to keep Deron. I know i may get flamed, but I have info to back up my belief it is not just a hunch. I can't speak on that though. I will support Henny in whatever he does though if he caves and trades him soon. I just wish he wouldn't.
