I'm jus glad to have a 3pt threat on the team again. I wonder if there is any chance that Hayward plays the point-forward role with Harris or Mo in the SG/shooter role...

I expect Harris to guard 2s while Williams in in. But I'm much happier with Harris initiating the offense than Williams.

Harris weighs around 40 pounds less than many SGs.

What? Harris is 6'3 and 185 lbs. Combine measurements say the average shooting guard is just under 6'4 and 200 lbs. Power forwards weigh 235...but nobody is asking Harris to defend 4s. Not to mention he'd be guarding second unit shooting guards, who tend to be smaller.

Harris would do fine defending 2s, and he'd have a clear speed advantage on the other side of the floor. I know everyone wants to pretend we've already traded Harris, but until that time comes or not, we should plan on using Williams as a 6th man with Harris defending 2s. Unless you'd rather just sit Harris and watch Bell play backup 2...
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

A guy can't be traded twice in one season unless the trades are really close to one another. Devin will be the one to go.

You can trade a player at any time by himself. He can't be packaged wit other players for 60 days.

Looking like the Jazz and Hawks are discussing a Devin Harris for Marvin Williams trade.

I like that a lot for the Jazz. Gives us a solid starting 3 who can outside.

I love that trade for the Jazz. But I drink a ton of Harris Haterade.

As I stated earlier, Mo is a very good pick and roll PG. In Milwaukee, we referred to the Bogut/Mo connection as Mogut. Given that Bogut's range extends to about 4 feet, it is remarkable how well that tandem actually worked.

In Utah it is a different story. You have Mosap, Mofferson, Movors, and Mokant. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how well it works out, especially with the addition of a nice outside shooter in Marvin who can help spread the floor. Hayward and Burks will also have a ton of open spot up opportunities.

I would bet he wins a lot of you over in the first few weeks of the season. He has a killer pull up jumper. He can destroy teams in the pick and roll game if they don't guard it properly. He also has developed a very good to great floater, and he's very good for a PG his size at the rim. He's also good on the break, though some will probably not like it when he pulls up from 12 feet (even though he's unguarded) and misses. He also, of course, is a great spot up 3pt shooter.

In today's press conference Mo said his goal is to play out his career here.

This move made me approximately 100x more enthusiastic about watching the Jazz. Both by adding a scoring PG with range / swag (for lack of a better word) and getting rid of devin. This will be a fun team to watch no doubt.

+1. I liked Devin, and was sad that his time here wasn't more productive, but I think a major part of his problem was that he seemed to have no confidence. Even when he started to play well he seemed reluctant to step into the role of a leader on the court.

I don't see this being a problem whatsoever with Mo. I loved how he talked in the presser, and even more, I know he meant what he was saying, not just saying the right things. Of course he might even be a bit too confident, but I doubt it. This team needs a leader badly, and I think Mo is going to fill that need. I hope he does well and can stay here as well.

After considering this move for a few days, I'm excited about Mo.

He brings:

1) Leadership. This most recent team seems to struggle a bit with identity and leadership. Although Milsap brings a lot of heart, I believe Mo will run the team from an emotional and toughness perspective. With this, I think he raises the rest of the team.

2) Perimeter defense. Although he may not be any better defender than Harris, with his effort and heart, I expect a big improvement on the perimeter. Along with Marvin Williams length, this should help stop other teams from killing us with the three.

3) Perimeter offense. Although Harris pulled through at times, he was not a consistent threat from three point range. I think Mo will be a more consistent threat.

All in all, I liked Harris, but he never quite fit what the Jazz were trying to do. Mo seems to fit like a glove.

I wonder how Mo is feeling about having to lose the headband again. I believe we still have that rule in effect, right? If so, I'm glad we do, makes him look ridiculous.
