Evans Is King wrote:Just because Evans role is unclear does not mean the Kings need to sell low. Evans holds more trade value than Anderson.
Id think if both teams wanted to do a S&T Id be willing to deal JT. JT would fill a need with Dwight out the door. NO way you come and steal Evans because we like Anderson.
I guess it is all how you look at it. Take it step by step and answer me these questions.
#1 who is the most important player on your team? (I have to assume Cousins because he has the chance to be the next dominant big man)
#2 What is Jason Thompson worth and would it really be that smart to pay him starter money when he should be starting on a team that needs a center?
#3 Since Evans role is unclear do you think your ownership would step up to the plate next season if he gets a large offer? It is hard to imagine that you would want to pay a player large money that plays out of position and does not have a defined role.
#4 Do you want the Kings to over pay like the Magic did?
The Magic PAID big time to develop Dwight. We had to bring in the best stretch 4 in Rashard Lewis and boy did we pay for that. However, at the time that was the best way to get the double teams off of Dwight. Same goes for the development of Cousins. Except the Kings would not have to make the financially bad decision to pay through the nose just to develop Cousins. In Anderson you get a KNOWN player that fills a need to help you develop Cousins. In Evans he cant shoot the 3 pointer so he is not the best player to have on the court with Cousins as he is trying to develop.
#5 By trading Evans for Anderson you get a tremendous return in helping you develop Cousins. PLUS you have a trade chip in Thompson to fill the needs on your depth chart.
IMO why Evans has potential, the Kings need to do everything they can to develop Cousins. Cousins is a rare talent that if developed right can take you to the promise land. Dont' surround him correctly and help him develop his game and you waste a golden opportunity to have a great big man.
