Ryan Anderson Meets with Kings...Trade Idea

Post#1 » by TheMagicOne » Tue Jul 3, 2012 2:40 am

Trade Anderson & JRich to the Kings for Garcia and Evans.

Evans can start at PG and that gives us a test drive with him before he becomes a RFA next season. Garcia comes off the books at the end of the year.

The Kings are wanting to move Evans and we need a PG, a position he likes to play. Is it too much for us to give up? Anderson next to Cousins is the perfect complement for an inside outside game and he is from that area, actually won the state championship on that floor. It would make Anderson happy and give us a decent return.

Thoughts?

Should've posted it in our Trade Ideas thread.

The title of that thread is a little confusing, but DAMO mod edited it.

how about discuss it. Reports are Anderson met with them. It only makes sense due to the fact Evans has been playing out of position and go read the Kings fans thread about what to do with Evans. They want him coming off the bench.

They drafted someone by the name of Thomas Robinson.... Maybe you've heard of him.

I get that, but since it is a new report that Anderson met with the Kings, it seems responsible for it to have a thread on its own and we discuss the merits of a potential deal.

That's true. I think it deserves a thread. But rather you should rename it related to the news about it, instead of making it sound like another random idea.

"Ryan Anderson meets with the Kings" or something.

Then why meet with Anderson if you are not interested? We also drafted two big men, does that mean we dont want Anderson and are willing to give him away for nothing? Get real.

They could want him off the bench if the price is right. They're not going to give up a young player with tremendous potential like Evans for Anderson. Think about it.

Ryno gives them the ability to run sets using a Stretch 4. Robinson did well in draft workouts to show he has range, but it's not anywhere near Anderson's level. Plus, he's a Sacramento native and I think their fans can dig it.

I never liked Anderson as our starting PF, because it forced us to use the 4 out, 1 in system as our base system. I'd much rather pick and choose when to do it and have a guy like Anderson come off the bench. It's why I'd love for us to go after Steve Novak in FA if/when we lose Anderson.

The Kings problem is they do not even want to spend cap Money. They could make their team better, much better by using the amnesty on Salmons and pick up a couple good free agents. But their team and fans know they are cash poor. So by signing Anderson to a deal they know they can live with and trading Evans for him does two things. #1 they can say goodbye to Thompson because they are scared to death to overpay him. #2 They do not have to run the risk of overpaying Evans, a player who plays out of position and is not as valued by the Kings as he once was.

They want to build around Cousins and if you go with the Dwight Howard recipe, you surround him with 3 point shooters. Of which Evans is a horrible 3 point shooter and just crowds the lane with his driving with Cousins there. The problem with Evans is he has a lot of upside, but no outside shot, so to defend him you just guard the paint and dare him to shoot. He is Grant Hill bad from the outside. .202 3pt%

I did think about it. Evans have declined each year in the league and does not compliment Cousins at all. Where as Anderson is the perfect complement for Cousins as he has proven he can play with a dominant big man. Cousins is the next great big man in the league if they develop him right. Only way to develop him right is to have a stretch 4 in the starting line up so Cousins gets less double teams.

No matter how much "potential" Evans has, he can not do what Anderson can do for Cousin's development.

So after you thought about how Evans has declined each year he's been in the league, you immediately wanted him? I can assure you Evans is quite possibly the furthest thing from the type of character guys Hennigan is trying to bring in.

BTW I think the only way I would trade Anderson is if we get two things in return, young players with value and some cap relief in the form of JRich, QRich, Hedo or Duhon moved with him.

People on here really have no clue as to how trades work, why would they trade their second best player and an expiring for two role players at best. Marcus Thornton is the Kings SG and he's much better than J-Rich. J-Rich is also locked up for 3 more years after this one, they can get a lot better value for Tyreke elsewhere.

Do you realize that restricted FAs have never had this kind of value?

Ryan Anderson & J.J. for Tyreke Evans & Jason Thompson, sounds like a reasonable trade.

The Kings are always looking to have cap space, and J.J.'s option would give them that instant cap space. Plus they don't think they can resign JT anyways so you might as well sign and trade him to get Ryno.

Jason Thompson
6'11 250lbs is not Dwight Howard but brings an offensive and defensive presence, and we'd start with an instant rebuild with Evans.
