When I heard about his scary length a few weeks ago I was expecting him to be one of those tall skinny projects that can't really play, but he looks athletic, fluid and capable around the rim in this clip. Teams won't need a lot to buy into a 7'9 wingspan C, especially in a weak draft. I think it'll be hard for an international to go #1 but I could see him being the niche 2nd

I haven't really seen Gobert play outside some highlights. Does he have any offense at all? I know he was going against a lot of zone in, but the defenses didn't seem too concerned with him in most those clips.

not really. he's mostly just a dunk and occasional baby hook guy. he doesnt really have any moves.
most guys who are built like him take an extra half second to change directions or get their momentum going one way, but not gobert. i like his mobility.

He looks a lot more athletic than Valanciunas to me

i.austin has a painfully weak lower body. when i was talking about guys with gobert's build being relatively slow to change directions i had i.austin in mind.
i think he'll need a couple of yrs in college to get his body ready.

Physically he looks like Ajinça at the same age. Same height/wingspan.
In the game he plays he's totally different.
To compare with another french player, Gobert reminds me more to Mahinmi in his offensive game. Same style : lack of post-move but very efficient and explosive around the rim.

As Steven Adams biggest fan here, i believe he can be the top pick in the up and coming draft.

But i hope to god that he doesn't go first, the expectations and the history of non-american bigs going number one is not in favor for my fellow NZer.

And if anyone considers Noel over my man Steven Adams needs to youtube their game against one another
