Why would they trade Evans for a player they can sign outright

Because they cant sign him outright he is a RFA not a UFA. That is like saying why would the Dallas Mavericks try to trade for Gortat instead of just signing him outright. Oh wait they tried that...How did that work out for them???

Do you realize that restricted FAs have never had this kind of value?

Really??? Are you nuts??? Name the last "RESTRICTED" free agent that was traded from a team where he was considered an ASSET??? Go look, find me just one. You will be hard pressed to find one.

My point is the only way the Magic trade Anderson, the current MIP, is to shed salary. Otherwise you let him get his best deal, you match it and you look to move him down the road just like we did Gortat.

ANY TEAM that tries to get Anderson has to know they would have to do so one of two ways. OVER PAY THE HECK OUT OF HIM like HIbbert is getting or work a S&T where they have to take back some bad contracts or supply us with a young player that we would need more than Anderson.

So are you arguing for Restricted FAs having high trade value or not? Because your last post and this post sounds like a contradiction.

.

Bradenton LINK

Anderson, however, is a different kind of big man because of his shooting abilities. If he joins Thompson and Robinson, the Kings could use Anderson at small forward, a position the Kings have lacked consistency at for years.

Anderson at the SF ??? The Kings will get smoked on defense. I really do not think the editorial depatment thought through this thought line.

The first day Anderson could sign an offer sheet would be July 11. Orlando would have three days to match the offer.

The Kings, however, have plenty of room under the salary cap (approximately $15 million) and the ability to put together an offer sheet Orlando might be reluctant to match.

i laughed when i saw that as well especially him playing SF. hes not athletic enough to. Do they really think the magic were starting Hedo at SF cuz Anderson Couldnt play it. I would have started BBD and Anderson at the forwards with anderson at SF if he could play there but he cant cuz hes not athletic enough and cant play defense on wing players

Well, if they are willing to overpay Anderson, then that seals it. If not, and I believe that should be the case, we may get something in return. Evans would be ideally, but I'd put my money on Kings offering Garcia + Jimmer, we should ask for Garcia + 1st round pick for Ryno + JRich.

Oh yes Kings Anderson can play SF, Absolutely. He is better than Hedo. Trade him please for Evans & Jimmer.

Only thing we can hope to get from the Kings is a heavily protected 2nd round pick and a trade exception.

Kings would have to believe that we'd match Anderson should they sign him to an offer sheet for them to find a trade in their best interest. IMO they offer him a pretty good contract of 40M/4yrs and we match anyway. The highest they can go is 13M/yr as that is his max level coming off a rookie contract.

The Kings would not trade their 2nd best player and one of their best trading chips for Ryan Anderson who they can try and sign outright if Orlando doesn't match. Maybe a sign and trade with Thompson, but Evans?

The latest rumor is that this 4/40 deal would be front-loaded to scare off the Magic. I am not sure that that is "scary." But Orlando is unlikely to see Anderson as a long-term guy and getting young assets for him should be enough.

But a SnT to Sac makes a bunch of sense for both teams. The Kings start a core around Anderson and Cousins. Tyler Honeycutt and a future first could be enough. As the Kings have cap space, the salaries do not need to match.

i d love to see a S&T Ryan for Garcia(expiring)+ future 1st

D12+JR for Bynum (extended)+Mcrobert(expiring)+future 1st http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=83s4lvv

PG:Nelson,Duhon (1.5 M in 13),ish

SF:Hedo(6M$ in 13),Earl,Garcia,Q
PF:BBD,nicholson,Earl,harper,Mc robert(expiering)
C:Bynum,Oquinn

bynum contract after extention should be around 18M in 2013 so with his contract our total salary will be around 40M$, so still a big player in 2013 Free agency, enough to max Harden

i m not even talking about the player we might get at trade deadline using all our expiering contracts

The Sacramento Kings are expected to offer Orlando Magic restricted free agent Ryan Anderson a front-loaded contract soon, according to Steve Kyler of HoopsWorld.

I posted it in another thread.

Nicolas Batum has agreed to a four-year, $45 million offer sheet with the Wolves.

Bonuses could push the deal to $50 million.

Batum: 23 years old,
30.4mpg, .451% fg, .391% 3pt, .836% FT, 1.4orpg 3.2drpg 4.6rpg 1.4apg 1.0spg 1.0bpg 1.5to 1.8fouls 13.9ppg

Ryno: 24 years old,
32.2mpg, .439% fg, .393% 3pt, .877% FT , 3.7orpg 4.0drpg 7.7rpg 0.9apg 0.8spg 0.4bpg 0.9to 2.4fouls 16.1ppg

Will Ryan get a +11M offer?

After reading Skin's post the SnT option looks unlikely.

If the Kings are trying to get the Magic NOT to match, I don't see why we wouldn't work out some kind of S&T. The Kings could then distribute Anderson's pay any way they wanted... front loaded, back loaded or whatever.

Jason Thompson has an offer from the Kings too, that sits at $6M per year. Thompson is holding out for more.

Just give us Jason Thompson at $7M per year and we can call it even. Kings under the cap can take back more than they dish out.

If we did this, then I'd be fine with trading for Bynum.

I don't see us not matching, or trading Anderson for that matter, as long as Dwight is on the team or Bynum is our top target in a trade for Dwight.

The only thing your forgetting is that batum is one of the best defenders in the nba, while Ryno is a terrible defender. That's a huge difference!
