How Many HRs Will Rasmus Hit This Year?

Post#1 » by Lateral Quicks » Tue Jul 3, 2012 1:26 pm

We're almost at the half way mark and Colby Rasmus is quietly on pace for a 32HR season, which would be a career high. His swing appears effortless, and as we saw last night, he's capable of generating upper deck power.

Is Colby Rasmus now a 30+ HR hitter? How many do you think he'll finish with this year?
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

I voted for 26-30....Colby is MASHING right now, but I'm trying to temper my expectations. The way he is playing right now, both offensively, and defensively, the sky is the limit.

I say he matches his jersey number, and belts out 28.

Rasmus will have his usual catastrophic post all-star break drop off if his previous seasons are any indication. I can see him end up finishing hitting .240 with around 22-25 HRs.

*With the exception of 2010, when his catastrophic second half drop-off was all the way down to .265/.351/.435. Need a few more than his current 700 PAs from July-October to be able to state that he has a usual anything, as evidenced by the 44 point split in his first/second half BABIP.

Slumps like the one in 2010 will happen when you strikeout as much as he did. He's improved his strikeout rate, so think he has a great shot at maintaining this pace all year. Think he gets between 30-34

I'm hopeful that he'll mash 30+ but I'm not expecting it. 25-30 is probably more realistic, and wouldn't be bad either.

I think he ends up hitting .285/.345/.550 with 30 HRs and ends up with more MVP votes than Jose.
