This is my fear, if we make the mistake of matching Asik's offer.

I posted several pages back that choosing Asik means goodbye to Taj & probably Noah. There is no way in hell that Omer Asik is better than or more valuable to our success than Noah and Taj.

I think this is KC's speculation more than reporting. IMO, the Bulls are not dealing Noah for anything other than an all-star type player. And, I think they are keeping Taj even if Asik signs. It is a pretty decent bet that Boozer will get worse and Taj is the natural replacement here. I don't think they are factoring in Mirotic as a rotation player a lot of people here seem to do unless he has played a season in the NBA.

That said, even if Asik had signed for a 4 year 20 mil deal...they would still be exploring a deal for Noah. IMO, Asik's contract is not a factor for trading Noah or extending Taj.

it would certainly make it less likely they'd match a generous offer for taj

KC is just speculating about possibilities...why do some people seem to act like everything he writes in his articles comes down from Gar's desk?

Hypothetically could we sign and trade him for the rights to Montejunas or Lamb?

I can't answer your question. :o

I've been wanting to post this for a while. KC is normally pretty clear when he's just speculating, at least I think so, but people pretend what he is saying is straight from the Bulls.

When a good, perceptive reporter covers any beat long enough, they should be able to predict the actions and tendencies of the people they cover with decent accuracy. I tend to think he's just better at reading them some of the other guys.

Matching this insane offer for Asik leaves no money for Taj & probably pushes Noah out the door.

I don't understand why people believe the Bulls are going to pay BIG money to Boozer, BIG money to Noah, BIG money to Asik, & BIG money to Taj.

Matching this offer means two guys have to go & it won't be Asik or Boozer. I can't fathom why people believe a backup role-playing center is worth banishing our two most productive big men.....Noah & Taj.

How do I put it, most of the things he tosses out there, even if the Bulls are considering them, it''s like with Ralph's stuff - there's no reason to take that info and pretend it is definitely going to happen.

I don't think KC has forecast very much but not sure.

92 pages for a guy who averaged 3 and 5. Let that sink in...

we aren't going to match and we will be better for it. This team is run by 1. Finances, 2. Finances again and 3. Winning. The sooner everyone realizes that, the less speculation we will have to succumb to.

Asik's terrible offense, offsets his above average defense. Good riddance. I couldn't stand to watch another pass hit his hands and bounce off.

We are better off for not matching that contract, but we are not better in general for it. He was cheap and provided dominant D off the bench. The Bulls could have landed something really nice for him at the trade deadline (there were reports of Cleveland's first before they started to crumble), Wes Matthews, etc...

I understand what you are saying though and the finances piece is accurate.

Hypothetically......

Bulls can't sign him to a deal matching Houston's offer because of Arenas MLE stuff, best deal Bulls could give is something like 5, 5.2, 5.8, 6.2-ish. So no reason for Omer to agree to lower salary, especially since he supposedly already turned it down a week ago. Sham explained all this in the other Omer thread around page 4 or 5.

While I'd like to see Bulls match, because it'd mean that even after knowing the potential financial impact, they are still willing to open the pocket books, if it costs Noah or Taj I'd have to scratch my head and wonder what the heck are they thinking/planning.

They could be hoping to make one more run in '12-13. Hoping DRose can get back to be a game changer by late next season, re-sign Korver to smaller contract (e.g. 3 x $3.5-sh), and have bench mob of Korver, Butler, Teague, Asik, Taj. Depending upon how they perform next year, maybe keep it together for another run in '13-14 or dump Omer/Rip, etc.

If we sign this guy to 8mil + it will be a joke.

He's a stiff that doesn't even burn up his 6 fouls correctly.

He's had his chance to sieze a starting role and big time minutes and he's shown he's no where near worth 8mil a year.

if i'm watching him on the Bulls next season knowing he's earning 8mil a year -
my level of expectation for him goes way up. 8mil a year is being paid like a starting CTR.

No doubt Joe Johnson is a big bad contract...but he would sure fill a need on the Bulls.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. You can't be serious.

I've never once heard anyone ever complain that a center "doesn't foul enough"

Dumping Omer is going to unlock the solution to all the Bulls problems I guess.

Dumping Omer is going to make us an elite offense I guess.

My, how the dumping of Omer giftwraps OJ Mayo for us in the mind of some. Even if that deal were possible, it would:

(1) still complicate the future finances and need to pay the tax or do an amnesty
(2) it would make us go from elite on defense, sub-elite on offense to sub-elite in both

Oh but it's all ok, because he averages 5 rebounds. The people who quote that and use it as a BAD thing need to learn which stats are based on playing time and which stats account for it. 5 rebounds....in 15 minutes played per game.

ATRAIN has absolutely no concept of the stiff 7-foot center if he thinks Omer is it.

Omer moves extremely well for a guy that size. If you say he's a slow stiff, you are embarassing yourself in front of everyone who posts here, basically. It shows you have either never seen average agility 7 footers in the NBA, or are just too consumed with your own point to stop and think about an Aaron Gray, a Yinka Dare, etc
